There is fresh attention on the origins of Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s love story, as it’s finally time for their relationship to feature on Netflix’s The Crown, which is now in its sixth and final season.

The role of Prince William, now 41, is played by Ed McVey in the series, while Meg Bellamy plays the part of Kate, also 41 – and we think both of them have done a great job portraying the future king and queen of England!

Royal author Christopher Andersen, who has penned many biographies about the royal family over the years, told Fox News Digital his own thoughts about the Prince and Princess of Wales’ “epic” relationship, which began after they met at St Andrew’s University in Scotland.

They were reportedly very good friends for a long time, but their relationship famously intensified in 2002 after the young prince saw Kate modelling a see-through dress in a friend’s college fashion show called The Art of Seduction. They then reportedly moved in together with friends, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Royal Author Talks About Prince William And Kate Middleton's 'Epic' Love Story

Andersen told Fox News Digital that Kate and William's "love story is really epic in its own way," adding: "It really signifies the royal family’s leap from the 20th century into the new millennium."

"As I pointed out in my book, Kate is a transformative figure: a descendant of coal miners whose mother grew up in public housing and worked as a flight attendant before starting her own children’s party planning business at home," the William and Kate: A Royal Love Story author continued.

The Press 'Went Crazy' After William And Kate's Relationship Became Public Knowledge

Andersen, who has also written Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, also talked to the outlet about the media attention that Kate and her family had received as soon as the news of her relationship with the heir to the throne became public knowledge, saying: "The press went crazy, just as it had when Charles started dating Diana."

He went on to say that "Kate handled all the pressure with amazing strength, calm and grace," but the same couldn’t be said for her royal boyfriend. "William, meanwhile, was having nightmares that the woman he loved might meet the same terrible fate Diana did," Andersen explained.

"So many women have fallen victim to palace intrigue, and from the beginning, knives were out for Kate," he added. "Many high-place aristocrats and their handlers did not want to see the future King of England involved in a serious romance with a middle-class commoner, no matter how intelligent, beautiful or capable she was." We assume (and hope) that most if not all of the people who initially doubted the Princess of Wales have changed their minds!
