Kate Middleton has evidently been putting on a brave face at royal engagements including King Charles’ coronation and the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, as royal author Christopher Andersen has suggested that she is actually “heavily” affected by the ongoing feud between her husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry, but is just doing a really good job of hiding it.
This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as the Princess of Wales, 41, and the Duke of Sussex, 38, were once very close, especially after she officially joined the royal family following her and Prince William’s royal wedding in 2011. Prince Harry even confirmed this in his bombshell memoir, Spare, which was released in January this year, calling her the sister he’d “never had and always wanted.” Aww – this breaks our hearts!
Kate Middleton Reportedly Puts On A Brave Face Despite The Royal Rift Weighing On Her
Andersen, who has written books The King: The Life of Charles III and Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, among many others, reiterated just how much of a brave face the Princess of Wales puts on in public, despite the royal rift between her husband, 40, and his brother really getting to her.
"When it comes to acting the part of someone who seems totally unfazed by all the drama swirling around her, Kate really delivers the most convincing performance," he said. "She never lets her guard down the way the other three do," he continued, in reference to Prince William, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle, 41. "But you know, Kate and Harry always had a special bond, and I believe the rift between the brothers weighs on her more heavily than people realize," he added.
Andersen went on to say that the mom-of-three has tried her hardest to reunite the two feuding brothers, despite her husband's initial hesitancy. "Kate certainly had to have talked Prince William into making that appearance with his brother outside Kensington Palace," he continued. "William certainly was in no mood to make nice with Prince Harry, and by all accounts still isn't. Whenever these four are together, I don't think we have seen anything but forced smiles on all their faces."
The Princess Of Wales Is Inspired By The Strong Bond Of Her Own Siblings
Royal commentator Shannon Felton Spence also suggested that Kate's strong bond with her own siblings – sister Pippa Middleton, 39, and brother James Middleton, 36 – was also another reason why she was so adamant in trying to get the brothers to reconcile.
"Her own family is very close and has a tight-knit unit that includes the spouses and children of each of the Middleton siblings. No one enjoys being estranged from people who they care for," she said, adding, "Kate, William and Harry were very close. Catherine wants to mend the relationship between the brothers." Here's hoping that the Princess of Wales will work her magic and reunite the brothers – and possibly even patch things up with Meghan Markle, with whom she has never seemingly seen eye to eye – once and for all!
