Kate Middleton returned home to Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate on Monday, January 29th after a two-week hospital stay following a “planned abdominal surgery.”

On January 17th, Kensington Palace revealed that the Princess of Wales, 42, had undergone planned abdominal surgery at the private London Clinic on the same day it announced that King Charles, 75, had been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate and would soon be receiving treatment for it. And it seems like her palace aides could have found out about her surgery at the same time as the rest of the world, as she and Prince William were both apparently very tight-lipped about it.

Kate Middleton's Abdominal Surgery Reportedly 'Came As A Surprise' To Family, Friends, And Palace Aides

On Wednesday, January 24th, People reported that "there had been no indication that anything was wrong" with the mom-of-three prior to her hospitalization on January 16th, with the mag noting that she didn't give anything away when she celebrated her birthday with family at Adelaide Cottage on January 9th.

The mag went on to write that the news "came as a surprise" to family and friends, as well as people who "work closely" with the couple. This echoes what a royal insider reportedly told Page Six, which wrote that "even her closest aides did not know what exactly was wrong."

It's being reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales may have made the decision to not tell anyone about her going under the knife in order to protect her privacy. Well, she is one of the most talked-about women in the world, so it makes sense!

The Princess of Wales reportedly has a great support system at home, where she is currently continuing her recovery, with a source close to the royals reportedly telling People: "She is in great hands and will have lots of care and support at home."

Before the Princess of Wales returned home, a palace insider reportedly told People that her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, "will be a reassuring presence when she goes back to Windsor to recuperate." Her sister Pippa Middleton and brother James Middleton also live close by, so it's likely that they could be dropping in to see how their sister is doing from time to time too.

Page Six noted that Prince William and Kate also have the help of their longtime nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, who will likely be helping with the care of their three children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

Prince William Is 'Angry' Over Speculation That Kate Middleton Needed Surgery As A Result Of An Eating Disorder

Though Kensington Palace did not elaborate on what procedure the future Queen of England underwent, that did not stop fans from speculating. Some royal fans have apparently wondered whether the Princess of Wales needed surgery as a result of an eating disorder, but the Prince of Wales will not stand for it.

While it may be impossible not to be curious, and most fans are truly just concerned, Prince William is reportedly "angry" over some of the speculation from fans. On social media, people have taken to try and guess what Kate Middleton was hospitalized for, ranging from a hysterectomy to complications from an eating disorder, and Prince William is fed up.

According to an insider, "William gets angry when people say Kate has an eating disorder. Of course, it worries him that people think that, but it's also a sensitive topic given what his mother went through." The late Princess Diana suffered from an eating disorder called bulimia, and was open about her health struggles. Princess Catherine, however, has never mentioned suffering from an eating disorder, despite years of speculation. The royal family has repeatedly asked for respect and privacy, so hopefully certain nosy fans will take note.
