King Charles doesn’t just have a problem with Kate Middleton upstaging him, as he is also reportedly less-than-happy with the way in which she and Prince William want to raise their oldest child Prince George, i.e., the current second in line to the throne. According to reports, the 74-year-old monarch already has plans for Prince George, who turns 10 next month, and his future, which he and the Princess of Wales sometimes disagree on. Who knew?!

King Charles Wants Prince George To Take On More Royal Tasks

Prince George is the firstborn and is therefore second in line to the throne, just as his father Prince William, 40, was when the late Queen Elizabeth II reigned. As the firstborn, Prince George has a slightly different path to his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, which is something that was evident at King Charles' coronation last month as he had a special role to play in the service.

If you'll recall, he carried the train of King Charles' regal robes at Westminster Abbey, which made him the youngest future king to play an official role in a coronation.

According to RadarOnline, King Charles wants his grandson to take on more royal tasks, after being so impressed with the way he handled himself at his coronation on May 6th. However, the Princess of Wales, 41, doesn’t feel the same way, and actually disagrees with some of King Charles' more "old-fashioned," to quote some outlets, plans for her son, one of which includes him attending an elite boarding school.

"Kate and Charles are very similar in a lot of ways," a source told RadarOnline, before going on to suggest that the Prince and Princess of Wales want to modernize the monarchy, whereas the King seems to want to hang on to older traditions. "Both love what the monarchy stands for, feel a deep duty to Britain and the Commonwealth, and share the late Queen Elizabeth II's belief that royals should never complain, never explain," the source continued. "However, they're very different when it comes to how they think the monarchy should operate in 2023."

Kae Middleton Wants To Sign Off On Anything To Do With Prince George

Although the Princess of Wales has reportedly said she is happy for Prince George to take on some additional roles at the request of the King, she apparently wants to be consulted ahead of time, to make sure she is happy with what is being asked of her son. She and William have a few rules when it comes to parenting their children, so we're not surprised to hear that she wants to sign off on everything. "To her, the King's word is not final when it comes to her children, she's been very clear about that and if that starts a rift, or even a full-out war, then so be it," the source continued.

King Charles is "far more traditional and not interested in changing with the times," the source continued, saying that he would like George to follow the footsteps of other royals, including his father and grandfather, and attend an elite boarding school. Kate, however, isn’t so keen on the idea, and has gone one step further by saying she wants to ensure George "isn't given special treatment" that his younger siblings Charlotte and Louis would notice, and wants all three children to be treated equally. Is she trying to avoid another Prince Harry/Spare situation?
