Knee-high boots are one of the most hard-working and versatile pieces of footwear that we can own, so it makes perfect sense to invest in a good pair (or three) to see us through many fall and winter seasons. They can help extend the wear of some of our favorite summer pieces such as skirts, dresses, and even shorts, as knee-high boots look great when teamed with a combination of summer staples and autumnal and even wintery layers.
They also look great with more casual pieces such as skinny jeans and pants, as well as with more formal pieces such as elegant midi dresses and structured coats – all of which Kate Middleton has expertly demonstrated over the years! Let’s take a look at just a few of our favorite examples of the Princess of Wales in knee-high boots…
With Chic Winter Coats
The Princess of Wales, 41, has worn knee-high-boots on countless occasions over the years, to help her battle the cold U.K. temperatures while she attends her official engagements. One great past example took place when she and Prince William paid a visit to the Mumbles Pier in South Wales in February 2020, when she wore a bold red Zara midi dress, accessorized with a red and white graphic scarf, a red clutch bag, a chic double-breasted long coat from Hobbs, and Stuart Weitzman suede knee-high boots.
She sported another super-sophisticated, feminine, and en-vogue look when she visited the Ely and Careau Children's Centre in Cardiff to attend a baby sensory session back in January 2020, wearing a long Massimo Dutti camel coat (*the* color of the moment, FYI) teamed with a black sweater, a Zara leopard print skirt and Ralph Lauren Collection black suede high heel boots, which she has worn before.
With Casual Jeans
The Duchess of Cambridge is keen to show that knee-high boots work for more casual outfits too, with one of our favorite examples being when she and the Duke of Cambridge visited Manor Farm in Little Stainton, near Darlington in April 2021.
Kate wore a cozy Fair Isle knit sweater over a pie-crust collar blouse, and dark jeans, finished off with a Seeland Woodcock Advanced hunting jacket and her 'conker brown' colored Penelope Chilvers long tassel boots, which she was first photographed wearing way back in 2004, if you can believe it. If that doesn’t prove how much she loves knee-high boots, we don’t know what will!
