Although Kate Middleton is reportedly “turning a corner” in her recovery from cancer, which could mean that she may slowly return to royal duties in the not-so-distant future, new sources have hinted that she may never return in the same capacity.
The good news is that the Princess of Wales, 42, is reportedly doing much better since confirming her cancer diagnosis in March, and is taking on a little more as the days go on. As well as reportedly being spotted running errands at the end of last month, a royal aide confirmed, via Us Weekly, that she was briefly involved in a new report published by her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which is a positive sign.
However, the pub also confirmed that a Kensington Palace spokesperson insisted that her brief involvement in the project did not mean that she was back to work. And judging by what other insiders are saying, she may never get back to the work she did prior to undergoing abdominal surgery at the start of the year!
The Palace Reportedly Said Kate Middleton Will Return To Work When Doctors Give Her The 'Green Light'
The Palace reportedly already confirmed that the Princess of Wales will not attend rehearsals for this year's annual Trooping the Color ceremony, which is due to take place on June 15th, so it's unlikely that she will make an appearance this year. But we don't know if she will attend Trooping the Color events in the future…
"We have been really clear that [Kate] needs the space and the privacy to recover right now," the Palace reportedly said when it confirmed her Trooping the Color rehearsals absence this year, adding: "She will return to work when she has had the green light from doctors." But what will that work look like once she does make a return?
Kate Middleton's Team Is Reportedly 'Reevaluating' Her Job
According to an Us Weekly source, the mom-of-three's team is currently "reevaluating what she's going to be able to take on when she comes back," adding: "She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before." They went on to warn royal fans that "her role may look very different" when she does return to work, and said: "She's looking at what it will shape into."
Although nobody knows what her role will look like in the future, we shouldn't expect to see the Princess of Wales in public for the rest of the year, if we are to believe what another insider told The Daily Beast last month.
"Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance. I am told that Kate's diary for this year is empty," the insider shared. "There is nothing planned," they continued, adding: "She may not appear in public for the rest of the year."
