It’s no secret that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have always had a “cold” relationship and never really saw eye to eye. This was confirmed by Prince Harry in his bombshell memoir, Spare – i.e., the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time – with him saying that the sisters-in-law “clashed” after a particular incident involving some lip gloss.
Prince Harry actually had quite a few negative things to say about the Princess of Wales, 43 – who he once described as the “sister I’ve never had and always wanted” – throughout his memoir, one of which being how she notably “grimaced” when the former Suits actress asked to borrow her lip gloss before they went on stage at the Royal Foundation Forum in 2018.
TikTok Video Of Prince Harry Describing The Infamous Lip Gloss Incident Goes Viral
A TikTok user called @royalfamilyvideos_ uploaded a now-viral video to the platform (check it out here) showing various pictures of the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex alongside an audio clip of Prince Harry recalling that infamous lip gloss moment in his memoir.
“Meg asked to borrow Kate’s lip gloss. An American thing. Meg forgot hers, worried she needed some, and turned to Kate for help,” Prince Harry recalled in his memoir, which he can be heard reading in the now-viral TikTok video.
"Kate, taken aback, went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube," Harry added in his memoir, to try and set the scene to describe the start of the ongoing feud between himself, Meghan, Kate, and his brother Prince William.
He continued: "Meg squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips. Kate grimaced. Small clash of styles, maybe? Something we should've been able to laugh about soon after. But it left a little mark. And then the press sensed something was up and tried to turn it into something bigger. Here we go, I thought sorrowfully."
Royal Fans Defend Kate Middleton In The Comments
The Princess of Wales' fans were quick to defend her in the comments section of the TikTok video, with many suggesting that they too wouldn't be happy to lend someone such a personal product.
"I only ever share lip gloss with my absolute bestest friend of over 30 years. Cheek of her!" exclaimed one TikTok user, as another concurred, "My daughter and I don't even share lip products."
"I don't share my lip gloss with anyone that's gross," commented another user. "I don't share any lip stuff," another user agreed, while someone else slammed Meghan for even asking, writing, "Why even ask to borrow anything that goes on someone else's lips?"
Another user added: "You wouldn't ask to share another woman's lip gloss or lipstick. It's just not the done thing." "Meghan has no boundaries," said another user, to which someone else replied with a simple crying laughing emoji.
