As well as her regular motherly duties, Kate Middleton also has the added pressure of raising three royals – one of whom will be the future King of England! (No biggie!)

Although eight-year-old Prince George reportedly already knows about his destiny as heir to the throne (albeit only very recently) it’s the youngest children, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, who the Duchess of Cambridge is struggling with, as their future royal duties are already mounting up! We guess they can kiss goodbye to living normal lives, as it’s looking like they will have the future of the monarchy depending on them! Again, no pressure…

“The pressure on them is going to be intense to help ensure the survival of the British monarchy, an institution which can easily be traced back to the ninth century,” royal expert Daniela Elser wrote in the New Zealand Herald, according to The Sun. “Imagine having the weight of more than 1,200 years of history constantly on your shoulders. It must be painful for Kate to know that while other kids look at the future with goggle-eyed wonder, her children’s paths look set in Portland stone.”

Let’s not forget that the number of senior aka working royals is a lot lower than it used to be since Prince Philip’s passing, Prince Andrew being stripped of his royal patronages and military affiliations and losing his role as a working royal, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially stepping down as working royals back in January 2020, which therefore also includes their children, 3-year-old son Archie and 11-month-old daughter Lilibet.

Elser also noted that other working royals like the Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester are already in their seventies and eighties, which means the number of working royals that are available for Prince Charles’ future reign will already be very low; and it’s likely to get even lower by the time Prince William and eventually Prince George will take the throne.

“One thing that has never been speculated about or reported on in any of the approximately 8,774,573,498 stories about Megxit are any concerns they might have had leaving the royal family short-staffed,” Elser added. “There is no way that I can see that, at this stage, Charlotte and Louis will have anywhere near the latitude and freedom to ever make a similar choice”

"The only possible candidates to step in and help [George] carry the burden here are his siblings, meaning that, like it or not, all three of the Cambridge children could very well be dragooned into working royal life, whether they fancy the gig or not."

Referencing how Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis' futures have already been decided for them, Elser added: "That simple joy of imagining what you might be when you grow up is a privilege George, and, very possibly, Charlotte and Louis, will never really get."
