Prince William and Kate Middleton brought full royal glamour to the U.S. State Banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, September 17th, held in honor of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump‘s second state visit to the U.K.
The day was packed with pomp and pageantry – from a carriage procession through the castle grounds with King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, to military honors and gun salutes.

Later that evening, around 160 guests gathered in St George's Hall for the glittering banquet. Donald Trump was seated between the Princess of Wales and King Charles; and during his speech, he gushed over the Princess of Wales, calling her "so radiant and so healthy and so beautiful."
He also praised King Charles and Prince William, adding: "His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. Really amazing." But with all of this going on, it was a rare, personal moment between Prince William and Kate that stole the show on social media…

A rare image of Prince William and Kate Middleton walking hand-in-hand outside of Windsor Castle was posted to the Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram Story after the gala, with a caption that read: "Behind The Scenes." And that understandably sent royal fans into a frenzy!
For the gala, the Princess of Wales stunned in a custom Phillipa Lepley gown, made from silk crepe with a floor-length lace overlay embroidered in gold. She accessorizzed with Queen Mary's Lover's Knot tiara – a favorite of hers! – along with diamond drop earrings that once belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II. She wore her brunette hair down in loose, glossy curls, and finished the look off with a sash featuring her royal orders from both Queen Elizabeth and King Charles.
Prince William looked every inch the future king in a traditional white-tie ensemble and Windsor tailcoat. He wore the blue sash and star of the Order of the Garter, plus stars representing his position as a Knight of the Order of the Thistle and Great Master of the Order of the Bath, respectively. His chest also displayed medals from Queen Elizabeth II's Golden, Diamond, and Platinum Jubilees, as well as King Charles' coronation.
