When it comes to the most iconic dress Kate Middleton has ever worn, a lot of people would say, without hesitation, that it’s her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress.
Many others, however, would argue that it was the sheer strapless dress she wore while modelling in her friend’s charity fashion show during her first year at St. Andrew’s University back in 2002, as that was the moment a certain Prince William reportedly became “smitten” with her.

The now Princess of Wales rocked the see-through dress on the catwalk of the charity fashion show with the now Prince of Wales watching intently in the audience. She wore a teeny tiny bandeau bikini underneath the dress to preserve her modesty, while her brunette hair was worn in a curly down do.
According to reports, Prince William told his friend Fergus Boyd, who was sitting beside him in the audience at the time: "Wow, Fergus, Kate's hot!" And the rest, as they say, is history, as they started officially dating just one year later!

Prince William Was 'Smitten' With Kate Middleton After The Fashion Show, According To Friends
The Prince of Wales' infatuation with his now wife has been discussed on several occasions over the years, with one of their former classmates who was at the fashion show previously telling E! News: "He was sitting front row and his eyes were like stalks."
"It was clear to us that William was smitten with Kate," another one of their mutual friends said, according to Vanity Fair. "He actually told her she was a knockout that night, which caused her to blush," the pal continued.
"There was definitely chemistry between them, and Kate had really made an impression on William," they added, before going on to say: "She played it very cool, and at one point when William seemed to lean in to kiss her, she pulled away. She didn't want to give off the wrong impression or make it too easy for Will."
