King Charles celebrated his coronation at another event in Edinburgh, Scotland last week, and Kate Middleton donned a stunning azure coat, matching hat and pumps. This monochromatic, royal blue outfit is very different from her more traditional, classic robe that she wore to her father-in-law’s coronation event on May 6th at Westminster Abbey in London.

Princess Kate Dons Elegant All-Blue Ensemble For Scotland Coronation Festivities

This is because the Princess of Wales (known as the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland) is not a member of the Order of the Thistle, the highest order of chivalry, which Charles, his wife Camilla and son William are part of.

This meant that fans could see another epic fashion moment from Princess Kate, in which she sported her chic coat from Catherine Walker and an exquisite coordinating hat by Philip Treacy. She also paid homage to the late Queen Elizabeth with her jewelry, as she chose a pearl choker necklace from the monarch's collection.

For King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation two months back, Princess Kate graced Westminster Abbey in the Royal Victorian Order mantle. This honored her status as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

Queen Elizabeth named Princess Kate as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, (the highest possible rank, as People Magazine notes) in 2019. This news was shared on the 8th wedding anniversary of Kate and William.

King Charles and Queen Camilla requested that the Waleses wore formal robes and mantels for Charles' coronation in May. Underneath her ceremonial robes, the mom of three chose an ivory silk dress by Alexander McQueen.

The frock featured silver bullion and thread embroidery details featuring "rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs" to signify the four nations of the U.K., as People points out. To accessorize her other pieces, Kate added a silver floral headpiece from the Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen collection.

Kate is a longtime Alexander McQueen fan, as she notably chose the label for her unforgettable wedding dress back in 2011.
