Kate Middleton's Uncle Slams Meghan Markle On 'Celebrity Big Brother'
Goldsmith – who confessed in his pre-entry interview that he was a "nightmare to live with" – didn't waste any time in making his opinions about his niece's estranged sister-in-law Meghan Markle known. In a conversation with Sharon Osbourne, who is in the CBB house as a 'celebrity lodger' for just five days, Goldsmith spoke about the influence he thinks the 42-year-old former Suits actress has on her husband, seemingly suggesting that some of the things Prince Harry, 39, said about his family in his bombshell memoir Spare and various other interviews may not be true.
"I have an opinion that Harry was really, really really loved and when they were a threesome, so Kate, William, and Harry, they looked really comfortable together," he told the former X Factor judge.
"Then suddenly there's an extra dynamic that comes in, puts a stick in the spokes and creates so much drama that I don't genuinely think is there, and rewrote the history, saying how unhappy he was and I just don't think that's fair," the British businessman and entrepreneur added, in reference to the mom-of-two.
"I mean you can't throw your family under the bus in such a dramatic style, then write books about it and expect to be invited round for Christmas," he continued, before making an interesting prediction about Prince Harry.
"I think it's really sad," he said, adding: "At some point, I think he is going to come back and be a part of the gang again. He might need to. We are a very forgiving nation, it would be nice if he did." He later joked: "The worst thing I've said about him is that he wouldn't make my pub quiz team."
Osbourne didn't actually say *much* about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but did say: "I think [Harry] is foolish but he is not a bad person." She also briefly discussed their reputation in America, and some of their projects since stepping down as senior royals in 2020. "In the beginning, they were very very well received," Osbourne recalled. "They don't understand it, but they do love it, you know? But it's dwindling, dwindling, dwindling and there's been some deals that they have done that haven't worked well," she added.
What Has Gary Goldsmith Said About Meghan Markle In The Past?
Goldsmith previously opened up about his thoughts on Markle following the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview; particularly the part where Meghan alleged that Kate made her cry over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress, not the other way round as some media outlets had previously reported.
"I don't believe for a moment that Kate made Meghan cry," he explained at the time. "I've known Kate since she was born and she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. It's just simply not in her nature," he continued, before going on to say that the Princess of Wales is "even lovelier on the inside than on the outside."
