Gary Goldsmith Calls Meghan Markle 'Fickle' And 'Bad For Harry' In 'Times' Interview
Goldsmith, 58, once again did not hold back in his candid interview with The Times, and called the 42-year-old former Suits actress "fickle" and "bad for Harry and our country" among other things.
The British businessman and entrepreneur touched on the racism allegations made by Meghan and Prince Harry, 39, on their controversial Oprah Winfrey interview which aired in March 2021. Although Harry and Meghan never revealed which members of the royal family allegedly made comments about their son Prince Archie's skin color, early Dutch copies of Omid Scobie's book Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival mentioned the names of Kate and King Charles. Scobie has always maintained that he had nothing to do with the names being published inside the Dutch version.
"That's why it makes me so angry about what Meghan said about Kate," Goldsmith said in reference to the racism allegations, before going on to talk about his and Kate's mom's childhoods.
"Me and Carole grew up in a community as diverse as a Woolies Pick 'n' Mix counter. All the cultures you can think of." He then went on to say how the racism allegations from Meghan, who he refers to as "Laughing Girl" make him "furious."
"The idea that Laughing Girl says Kate is racist makes me furious," he continued. "Kate knows her family's roots and is proud of them. I'm sorry, but Laughing Girl is not good people." He also predicted that Prince Harry and Meghan's marriage won't last, adding: "Let's face it, Laughing Girl isn't going to be around forever, is she? I think she's fickle. And I think she's so bad for Harry and for our country."
Gary Goldsmith Addresses His 'Times' Interview On Social Media Following Kate Middleton's Cancer Announcement
Goldsmith's interview was conducted before his niece shared her cancer diagnosis with the world, which he addressed on X on March 22nd. "As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday's Times Magazine. This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate," his post began.
"My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article," he continued, adding: "I hope this draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies. Let's give Kate, William & the children time and show some love back."
Internet Reactions
His X post was met with a lot of controversy, with one user commenting: "You apologize to your niece, but not the woman you slandered via Media? You guys are always stripping Meghan of her humanity and not extending grace to her, just deplorable, the lot of you. Looking down on her because of her ancestry, but try to disguise it as something else." "Stop talking about them. Just stop. Stop using them to try and make yourself relevant. You aren't in the know. This is why you aren't in the know. You keep running your mouth," slammed another.
"Should have kept your mouth shut – no loyalty shame on you," wrote another X user. "You're irrelevant just like Thomas Markle," criticized another X user, in reference to Meghan's estranged father. "You're inciting hatred against Meghan, talking [expletive] about Harry and Meghan when you don't even know them. Focus on your niece's health and keep Meghan's name out of your filthy mouth!" exclaimed another.
