On Tuesday, October 10th, the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with The Mix UK and Radio 1, hosted a forum for young people at Factory Works in Birmingham in aid of World Mental Health Day. And the Princess of Wales’ yellow blazer definitely stole the show!
We may be well into fall, but Kate Middleton is still bringing a splash of color to the proceedings by injecting some bright pieces into her wardrobe. But adding a pop of yellow to her outfit wasn’t just to make her fall wardrobe a little more cheerful (although it did also do that!) as it’s believed that it was a nod to the ‘Hello Yellow’ campaign by U.K. mental health charity, Young Minds. We know that the Princess of Wales puts a lot of thought into her outfits, and this was no exception!
Kate Middleton's Significant World Mental Health Day Outfit
The pièce de résistance of the mom-of-three's well-thought-out outfit for the 'Exploring our Emotional Worlds' forum was of course the yellow L.K. Bennett 'Mya' single breasted blazer, which she previously wore with white trousers and a white top for a royal engagement with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust in May earlier this year.
On this occasion, she paired it with a black sweater and some black trousers, finishing off with a black Anderson belt and black Russell & Bromley heels. Her brunette locks were worn in her signature bouncy and voluminous slightly waved down do – with her new curtain bangs looking as fabulous as ever – while her makeup was natural and glowing.
Kate's gold star-shaped earrings by Scottish jewelry brand Earsass are also very significant, as they were made in memory of Issy Phipps, a cousin of Earsass founder, Sophie McGown. Issy tragically took her own life on April 29th this year, and the earrings were gifted to the Princess of Wales by Issy's mother Sarah Renton, who is a Maidenhead Rugby Club coach, during an engagement with the Maidenhead Rugby Club back in June.
Kate reportedly promised Issy’s mother that she would wear the earrings, and World Mental Health Day seemed like the perfect occasion. Renton reportedly told Page Six that "it’s incredible" to see the Princess of Wales wearing the earrings. The earrings retail for £25.50, with £5 from each sale going to mental health charity Brave Mind. They can currently be pre-ordered, and have an estimated delivery time of 4-6 weeks.
Kate Middleton's Passionate Speech
The Princess of Wales gave a very moving and passionate speech to highlight the importance of mental health. "Back in 2016, we launched Heads Together, a campaign supported by so many wonderful partners, that helped break the stigma around mental health, and encouraged more people to have everyday conversations about it," she began.
"Alongside the efforts of many others, we have seen real change. Today, more people feel empowered to talk about their mental health than ever before. This is a major step forward," she continued, adding: "William and I continue to be inspired to see young people, like you all here today, leading this charge – being particularly brave in having some of those conversations yourselves. As a generation, you value and talk more about your mental health than any before you – something we truly admire and applaud."
