Kate Middleton just proved that looking good doesn’t have to cost the earth, as she looked phenomenal in an outfit that cost just $129 at Zara. Yes, really…
Just a few days after blowing everyone away with her jaw-dropping gold Jenny Packham evening dress for the No Time To Die premiere at the Royal Albert Hall (we’re still not over it, by the way!) the Duchess of Cambridge was back to official royal duties looking like her usual chic and polished self. No surprises there, then! The mom-of-three attended University College London’s Centre for Longitudinal Studies on Tuesday, October 5th, to mark the launch of the university’s Children of the 2020s project, which aims to track the holistic development of children from nine months to 5 years.

“Our early childhoods shape our adult lives and knowing more about what impacts this critical time is fundamental to understanding what we as a society can do to improve our future health and happiness,” Middleton said in a statement ahead of her visit. “The landmark ‘Children of the 2020s’ study will illustrate the importance of the first five years and provide insights into the most critical aspects of early childhood, as well as the factors which support or hinder positive lifelong outcomes. I am committed to supporting greater in-depth research in this vital area and I’m delighted to be meeting all those behind the study at this early stage.”
The Duchess looked absolutely radiant for her visit, wearing a grey check belted Zara midi dress with voluminous long sleeves and pussybow detailing on the neck, which she accessorized with matching grey Hugo Boss ‘Staple P90-L’ anthracite embossed leather pumps, Mappin & Webb ‘Empress’ diamond carriage earrings, and a Ballon Bleu de Cartier stainless steel bracelet watch. Her hair was styled in her signature (and very enviable) freshly blown out down ‘do, complete with loose and effortless curls on the bottom.
If you feel like you've got a case of déjà vu after looking at Middleton's outfit, that's because you've definitely seen it before. The Duchess loves recycling her outfits and wearing them again, and that's exactly what she did with this smart and sophisticated grey creation. (It's too gorgeous to only wear once – are we right?!) She previously wore the dress in Bradford back in January 2020, and looked just as stylish, choosing to keep out the Yorkshire chill in a bespoke Alexander McQueen forest green midi coat on top, and finishing the ensemble off with her Gianvito Rossi 'Piper' 85 suede pumps that we have seen her in countless other times.
This is a far cry from the outfit Meghan Markle wore to Harlem’s PS 123 Mahalia Jackson school last month, as her entire look was estimated to cost just shy of an eye-watering $400,000. Just sayin'!
