Kathy Bates Shows Off Her 100-Lb Weight Loss In A Waist-Cinching Beaded Jacket At The Golden Globes As Fans React: ‘Beautiful!’

Kathy Bates continues to wow fans with her 100-lb weight loss transformation and chic style. The Misery alum, 76, stunned onlookers at the 82nd annual Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, CA, last night. Bates, who was nominated for her Matlock role, looked both comfortable and sleek in a beaded dinner jacket that accentuated her waist, paired with black tuxedo pants, a glittering evening bag, and sneakers.

This appearance at the Golden Globes follows the Fried Green Tomatoes star’s impressive achievement of shedding 100 pounds over seven years. Bates also showcased her new figure at the Hollywood Reporter‘s annual Women in Entertainment Gala in Beverly Hills last month, donning black trousers, a matching leather jacket, a light-colored shirt, and a purple tie.

During the Golden Globe Awards, Bates attended to celebrate her nomination for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series, recognizing her performance in the Matlock revival. While Bates did not win the trophy (it went to Shōgun's Anna Sawai), she certainly scored among in fans' eyes with her outfit.

On Instagram, one wrote that Bates looked "beautiful" as another added: "Goddess!!!!!" Someone else chimed in, noting: "I always thought you looked amazing and you look lovely now."  

As for the Oscar winner's major weight loss transformation, Bates previously explained took her six to seven years to achieve.

The Titanic actress said that she worked very hard to shed 80 lbs. by changing her diet and exercising, and credited the final 20 lbs. to Ozempic.

 "It's helped me tremendously that, over the last six or seven years, I've lost 100 pounds. I don't think I've been this slim since I was in college," Bates told Variety.

The Emmy winner has been very open about the things she has done to shed the weight, and previously told People that she used mindfulness to re-train her body to stop eating once it was full.

She also confessed that she stops eating after 8pm, while also revealing that she had to cut out some of the very unhealthy foods she loved in order to slim down.  

"I used to eat terribly: burgers and Cokes and pizza," Bates previously told People, before detailing some of the workouts she likes doing by herself, without the aid of a trainer. "I have a treadmill here at the house, and I might try Pilates," she dished to the outlet.

She added: "People always ask, 'Don't you want a trainer?' No, I really don't. I don't want anybody over my shoulder. It's just very important to me to keep this going. I don't want to slip."
