The former "Today" host appeared on "Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino," speaking about the incident that rattled her.

"I love him, I admire him so much," Katie told host Danny Pellegrino. "He's one of my favorite actors, but I remember walking out and feeling really kind of shaken that he had kind of gone after me in a way that was completely, weirdly uncalled for."

So--what happened exactly?

In the 2004 interview for Dateline, Katie asked the "Manchurian Candidate," star how he felt about some people saying that "people say Hollywood folks should stick to acting." She said she felt like the question was innocent, but was surprised with Denzel's tense response.

"I don't know what Hollywood folks are first of all," he responded. "Hollywood is a town that has some stars on the sidewalk. I don't know anybody from there. I'm not a Hollywood folk. I don't know who they are."

Trying to reframe the question so that he could answer it, Katie asked, "Are you an actor who would rather not..." but was cut off immediately.

"No, I'm not that either," he responded. "I'm a human being. My job is acting." Well, okay, then!

Katie recalled that she felt Denzel "totally misconstrued a question I asked and kind of jumped all over me."

"I don't think I said anything wrong," she asserted. "I don't know what happened." Yikes!

So--what do you think? Was Denzel simply defending himself from actor stereotypes, or did he jump on Couric over nothing?
