It was recently reported that Suri Cruise was a “millionaire” after her trust fund from her estranged father, Tom Cruise, had “kicked in.” However, her mother Katie Holmes has taken to social media to confirm that those reports are “completely false.”
On December 8th, the Dawson’s Creek alum shared a screenshot of a Daily Mail article claiming that the 18-year-old had a trust fund from the Mission: Impossible actor on her personal Instagram account. And she made it clear that there was absolutely no truth in it!
Katie Holmes Slams 'Completely False' Report About Suri Cruise Receiving A Trust Fund From Tom Cruise
The Daily Mail's headline read: "Suri Cruise the millionaire! Tom Cruise's trust fund has 'kicked in' and mom Katie Holmes has one for her too."
The Secret: Dare to Dream actress wrote on top of the screenshot: "Completely false. Daily Mail you can stop making stuff up." She also captioned her post by simply writing: "Enough."
"I’m so proud of you for calling them out," wrote one supportive fan in the comments. "No one thinks the Daily Mail is accurate mama don’t worry," a second fan reassured her, as a third said: "The Daily Mail is trash! We all know they are not accurate."
Tom Cruise Is Reportedly Paying For Suri Cruise's College Education
While Holmes confirmed that the reports about a trust fund are "false," it is still believed that the Top Gun actor is paying for his daughter's $65K education. Suri – who actually dropped her father's last name when she turned 18 and now goes by Suri Noelle (in homage to her mom's middle name) – is currently studying at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, the Jerry Maguire actor has reportedly yet to visit her due to their estrangement.
As per his and Holmes' divorce settlement, Cruise is also likely to be paying for his daughter's "medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs."
A friend of the Interview with the Vampire actor previously told the Daily Mail: "Tom is indeed paying for Suri's tuition, he has always paid for her schooling and would never stop as he is a stand-up guy." The friend added: "He has never hesitated paying his daughter's child support and expenses. He does not go back on his word. He is fulfilling his obligation."
Tom Cruise Is Still Estranged From His Daughter, Most Likely Due To Scientology
It was previously reported that the American Made actor's dedication to the controversial Scientology religion was largely responsible for the estrangement from his daughter. According to TMZ, Katie and Tom's divorce papers stated that Suri couldn't be exposed to anything Scientology related; and as a result, the actor isn't actually allowed to spend time with her.
"By strict doctrines, Tom cannot engage or connect with his own daughter," former leading Scientologist Karen De La Carriere previously told the Daily Mail, adding: "Scientology has no scruples or ethics on loyalty to family and wants only to break up families. In Scientology, it is Scientology first; family priorities come low down in the order."
Social media has understandably had many thoughts about the Edge of Tomorrow actor's estranged relationship with his daughter, with one person taking to X to call him a "deadbeat" dad when it was revealed that Suri had dropped Cruise from her last name earlier this year. "There's no reason for her to have a deadbeat's name," slammed one X user. "Yeah I wouldn't want to be affiliated with him either," agreed a second, as a third exclaimed: "Good for her! Love that she's taking a stand."
