Katy Perry Poses In A Waist-Cinching Trench Coat For 'Elle' Editorial Shoot
On the front cover, the mom-of-one can be seen posing in a sleek black ensemble alongside the other women set to embark on the momentous journey to space, as part of Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin New Shepard space tourism program. We love how she is going to be the first pop star in space!
For her individual editorial picture, the "Roar" hitmaker, who is also set to begin her Lifetimes Tour later this month, can be seen wearing a stunning white belted trench coat, styled with white knee-high boots underneath. Her hair is worn in a sleek and straight center-parted down do, while her makeup consists of lined eyes and a plump pink lip.
Gayle King shared pictures from the Elle shoot, as well as some behind-the-scenes snaps of the women all together, on Instagram on April 3rd, with the following caption: "It's really happening! We've all met before on a Zoom but a few weeks ago @elleusa brought us together in the same room for the first time! Everyone is as lovely and cool as I imagined they would be – still can't believe I'm going to space!"
What Do We Know About The Historic Blue Origin Flight NS-31?
Elle teased fans with glimpses of the cover and accompanying editorial on Instagram, with the caption: "Introducing our digital cover stars: The women of @blueorigin's historic all-female space crew—#KatyPerry, #LaurenSánchez, #GayleKing, #AishaBowe, #AmandaNguyen, and #KerianneFlynn—are defying gravity."
And defy gravity they will, quite literally, aboard Blue Origin's Flight NS-31, which is scheduled to launch on April 14th. This marks the first time a crew solely made up of women has gone to space since Russian cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova's solo flight in 1963.
Lauren Sánchez, who spearheaded the mission, made the following statement during the first video call with her all-female Blue Origin space crew, which she shared in an Instagram video on March 7th: "I really believe that all of these women are storytellers. They are gonna come back and be able to share that story and also inspire a new generation of explorers."
