Ever since Katy Perry‘s controversial spaceflight mission, her entire persona seems to have taken a cosmic turn—and her Lifetimes tour costumes are a testament to that. But with mounting backlash, not all fans are on board with her outer space-inspired aesthetic.
Katy launched her fifth concert tour in Mexico City on Wednesday, turning heads with a series of extravagant looks, many of which referenced her recent Blue Origin spaceflight.
One standout outfit featured a mint green, textured two-piece ensemble that resembled alien skin. The high-waisted bottoms were thick and structured, while the overlay bodysuit was paired with white combat boots and torn, matching stockings. See the look here!

Katy Perry Dons Futuristic Costumes During Lifetimes Tour
Another dramatic look showcased a futuristic metallic blue outfit with heart-shaped bottoms, robotic thigh-high boots, and matching gloves. She completed the look with blunt-cut bangs and shimmering silver palette makeup, leaning fully into her otherworldly theme.
When fans saw the outfits, they couldn’t help but criticize the ‘bizarre’ concept amid backlash from her spaceflight she took with Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, and others.
“I’m really trying not to be mean, but what is happening here? The first outfit looks like a giant diaper.”
“I sold my tickets after her space nonsense.”
“Fabrics from space.”
“Goes to space once… thinks she’s an alien.”
“She has weird costumes.”
“Desperate.”
“Is that a diaper?”
“Why can’t she not dress like a young singer? She passed her teen prime.”
“What a weird, awful costume. so bizarre.”
“Oh, her wardrobe team HATES her for sure… They made her wear that green diaper pad.”
“She’s trying too hard. Pathetic and tasteless… What happened to you!”

Katy Perry Invites Fans Dressed As Astronauts On Stage
It seems the singer hasn’t gotten the memo about the backlash surrounding her space trip, or she is simply choosing to ignore it.
During the kickoff show of her tour, the pop star brought two fans dressed as astronauts on stage. While chatting with the crowd between songs at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, she noticed a pair in blue NASA suits and invited them up, fully leaning into the space theme despite the controversy.
“You guys look so good. You just got back from space,” she said to the fans. “I want these gentlemen to come on stage, because they are dressed like my most current timeline.” She then proceeded to take selfies with the fans who were dressed in costumes similar to her Blue Origin look.
