Katy Perry Wows Fans With A High-Tech, Color-Shifting Outfit At Invictus Games Opening Ceremony
As for her makeup look, the mom of one (who shares daughter Daisy, 4, with her beau Orlando Bloom) opted for smokey silver eyeshadow, black winged liner, sky-high lashes, ample rosy blush on her high cheekbones and a glossy pink pout. During the Vancouver performance, Perry treated the audience to a medley of her most beloved tracks like "Firework," "Dark Horse" and "Roar."
Accompanying Perry were the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, the 15th Field Regiment Band, and the Royal Canadian Artillery Band. Additionally, 70 members of the Invictus Games Dance Corp and 10 performers with puppets from the Invictus Games also took part. The ceremony, which took place at BC Place in Vancouver, showcased musical acts by Chris Martin of Coldplay, Nelly Furtado, Noah Kahan, and Roxanne Bruneau.
Fans couldn't get enough of Perry's get-up after she shared photos of her look in an Instagram post for her 204 million followers. In her February 9th caption, the Grammy nominee wrote: "Was beyond inspired by the spirit of The Invictus Games and all the competitors today. Thanks for letting me chameleon my way through the opening ceremonies…See you again this summer, Canada."
One user commented beneath the upload: "Gorg. Stun. Incred. Icon," as another added: "That color changing outfit was stunning girl!!!" Someone else replied: "THE COLOUR CHANGING OUTFIT" as one other shared the same enthusiasm, writing: "You were amazing at the Invictus opening ceremony. So inspiring, so wonderful. Thank you!"
Perry's backing of the Invictus Games follows Prince Harry's 2021 revelation that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, who relocated to Montecito, California in 2020, are neighbors and friends with Perry and Bloom, 48. In 2023, the "Teenage Dream" artist took the stage at the Coronation Concert for King Charles, Harry's father.
That same year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were present at Perry's final performance of her Las Vegas residency, Play. Perry is currently preparing for her Lifetimes tour, promoting her seventh studio album, 143, which was released last year.
