2021 was undoubtedly the year of the cutout, as well as the year of the dangerously high slit. But Katy Perry clearly thought that two trends were better than one, as she combined the two sexiest trends of the year and treated fans to a floor length gown that featured two enormous side cutouts, as well as two navel high slits for the opening night of her “Play” Las Vegas residency. We were speechless when we saw it for the first time! The show-stopping glittering dress was reportedly designed by costume designer and stylist Johnny Wujek, and Pini, and hand painted and crystalized by Vincent Michael (known on Instagram as @thediscodaddy) – and it couldn’t have been more perfect for the first night of Perry’s highly-anticipated Sin City show! Just look at it!

The 37-year-old popstar wore the orange and yellow dress on stage while performing hits such as “Teenage Dream” and “Roar,” and teamed it with yellow full-length gloves, an orange and yellow feather boa, and gold earrings. Fans will also be pleased to see that Katy’s signature long jet black locks (which she only recently returned to after years of living life as a blonde) weren’t going anywhere, as her glossy raven hair tumbled effortlessly over her shoulders the whole time she was on stage. She looked like OG Katy, and we can only imagine that fans lucky enough to attend the opening night were beside themselves with excitement!

Katy’s orange and yellow slit dress was definitely one of the sexiest outfits of the show, but that doesn’t mean that her other ensembles aren’t worthy of mentioning too. All of Katy’s costumes for the residency are just as quirky, outrageous and OTT as you would expect (and more!) with the stage literally being larger than life due to Katy’s one-of-a-kind vision for the show.

“I play a doll in this show, so everything is, like, three times the size of me,” she told Good Morning America. “It’s Honey I Shrunk the Kids meets Pee-wee’s Playhouse but we knew what our audience is. People are here to have fun, people are here to let loose.” Fun definitely seems like the operative word if the pictures of opening night are anything to go by! Talk about having serious FOMO!

Some of the gargantuan items that joined the “Waking Up In Vegas” singer on stage included an oversized face mask, in reference to the pandemic, as well as an oversized toilet and toilet rolls, again, we assume in reference to the panic buying and hoarding that took place in early 2020.

It wasn’t all pandemic related, as the mom-of-one also paid homage to her Smurfette character from the 2011 Smurfs movie, sang on top of an oversized beer can that took up most of the stage – while wearing a metallic can-inspired ensemble, of course – and even transformed herself into a human toadstool while wearing one of the sexiest red leather bodysuits in existence paired with tasselled trousers. Who else but Katy?!
