Katy Perry can’t seem to catch a break these days, as she’s in trouble with members of her fanbase and other internet users after having to cancel one of her highly-anticipated concerts.

The singer-songwriter recently received a lot of backlash for her trip to space that people online deemed “obnoxious” and uneccesary,” to the point where people were beginning to spread the message that her fans should “boycott” her upcoming tour. Now that she announced she had to cancel her two of her shows in Mexico due to venue issues, fans are even more upset. Read more about her recent tour drama below.

Katy Perry Faces Backlash From Internet Users And Faces 'Boycott' Drama

The "Woman's World" singer has been facing significant backlash from online users and even members of her own fan base lately, with one of the catalysts being her recent trip into space via Blue Origin. If you didn't see the headlines, Katy was one of six women who Blue Origin flew into the atmosphere to market their company and send a crew entirely consisting of women to space for the first time in decades.

However, although the technology company, which Amazon mogul Jeff Bezos founded, wanted the mission to be a celebratory moment in history, many internet users found it to be cringey and "obnoxious," as the majority of the group was rich celebrities, and found it took away from actual female astronauts who are working hard and fighting for their jobs during difficult times.

Katy, who didn't hold back in showing her excitement for the Blue Origin trip, was one of the more targeted members of the crew, and numerous people took to the internet to criticize her. As tension grew, some users even began spreading the hashtag #BoycottKatyPerry to persuade fans not to attend her upcoming "Lifetimes Tour." People can see the hashtag in the comments section of some of her most recent Instagram posts.

"Please make sure to unfollow her and stop giving attention to her in any way," commented a user on one of her Instagram posts. "No likes, no shares, no video views. Nothing."

Katy Deals With More Fallout From Fans After She Cancels Two Shows In Mexico

As if things couldn't get more complicated for the mom-of-one, on Tuesday, April 22nd, she took to her Instagram story to share a disappointing message regarding the two shows she was supposed to play in Guadalajara, Mexico, on May 1st and 2nd as part of her "Lifetimes Tour."

The venue, Arena Guadalajara, has reportedly been under construction, and according to the singer, the work will not be completed in time for either of her shows. After reposting an informational graphic from the venue, notifying ticket holders that the two shows were canceled and that they would reimbursed, Katy wrote a message for her fans in Mexico who were excited to see her.

"Sadly, I learned that the construction of Arena Guadalajara will not be complete for their scheduled shows next week, which includes mine on May 1st and 2nd," she wrote.

The former American Idol judge also wrote that she had sent members of her team to inspect the venue upon receiving the construction update, but that there was no way they could still make the show happen and that it was "evident" that the arena was "not ready or safe to receive" her show or an audience.

"I wish I could fix this but it is beyond my control," she added.

"You guys mean the world to me and we have all been on such a beautiful journey together that I will be thinking about how I can create something special for the fans in Guadalajara in the future."

Fans of the vocalist quickly took to the internet to express their disappointment at not being able to attend her show and are unsure how she will be able to make it up to them.

"I'm very sad," wrote on fan on X.

Some fans can't help but notice the strange timing of Katy's shows being canceled, as she may be in the midst of being 'canceled' herself by members of the public who are angry at her most recent actions and are ready to see less of her in the media. We will have to wait and see how the pop star is able to make up for the last-minute cancellations in the future.
