Katy Perry fans had been eagerly awaiting new music from the artist for years. Now that she has released her song “Woman’s World,” some fans are starting to wonder if her fashion choices are generating more buzz than her music.

The former American Idol judge has been showcasing numerous daring looks, but her star-shaped American flag-themed bikini top stood out the most. In an Instagram reel, the singer paired the patriotic bikini with denim daisy dukes, a red-and-white polka-dot bandana, and held a bedazzled drill in one hand.

The mother of one captioned the post as she lip-synced to “Woman’s World”: “It’s a Woman’s World and you’re lucky to be drillin in it,” a playful twist on the lyrics that say “you’re lucky to be livin’ in it.”

However, fans were not pleased with her fashion choices and wondered if she’s going through a mid-life crisis.

“Is she having a midlife crisis?” asked a fan. Another user asked, “Is this supposed to make us feel empowered?” “This is embarrassing to all the women who actually know how to use a drill properly,” wrote another person.

“As an OG KP fan… this was such a missed opportunity. Could have shown real working women, mothers, military women, and grandmothers. That’s what being a woman is about. We are not just our bodies,” said another user.

Fans Criticize Katy Perry’s New Song ‘Woman’s World’

Not only are her outfits sparking controversy, but her new song has been criticized as cringe-worthy. Some are also questioning her collaboration with controversial music producer Dr. Luke.

“I love you and I was looking forward to this. But a song about Women empowerment written, produced by men? Especially when one of them was accused of vile things from a fellow singer. Err no thanks,” said one fan. “girl delete this. Your mv looks like it was made for the male gaze and the song is mid at best, this is NOT women empowerment,” wrote someone else.

“Not a female empowerment song produced by Dr. Luke… eek #cringe,” said another fan.

Katy Perry’s forthcoming album, “143,” will be released on September 20th.
