Did you know that Katy Perry just released two new songs? Or that she’s weeks away from releasing her seventh album, “143”? If not, you’re not alone. What was supposed to be an iconic comeback for the pop star is turning out to be an epic flop, and things are only getting worse, now that the 39-year-old is under investigation from the Spanish government for filming on a remote island without permits. Keep reading for more information.
Katy Perry Is Under Investigation For Environmental Damages
Though her single “Lifetimes” didn’t do as well as she’d hoped, the singer did decide to film a music video, perhaps to bolster the reputation of the song. And while she chose a gorgeous location to film the music video—the islands of Ibiza and Formentera in Spain—she, or someone on her team, seemed to have forgotten one of the most important checklist items: a permit to film there.
One of the Balearic Islands, as they’re called, has ecologically sensitive sand dunes, and according to the environmental department of the islands, the production company behind the video, WeOwnTheCity, did not secure permission to film at the location. Now, Perry is under investigation as department officials look into any potential damage to the dunes.
Fans Slam Katy Perry & Call Her 'The Worst Comeback Of All Time'
As news outlets report Katy Perry's wrongdoings, many fans—or rather, critics—took this an opportunity not only to slam the "Firework" singer for being insensitive, but also to point out how much of a flop this entire era is for the star. "Her and JLo are competing for worst comeback of all time," one person commented on Instagram.
"How can so many people be involved and no one was like hey maybe we should make sure we can film here?" another person asked.
"This AND working with Dr. Luke???" a third person said, referencing accused abuser Dr. Luke, who is involved on the production of Perry's upcoming album. "Girl can't pick a struggle."
"I need scholarly papers to be written about how she makes every move the wrong one," added another user.
"Wrong dunes wrong tunes," one person said.
"Girl cannot get it right!" a final person wrote.
