Katy Perry just changed her hair back to her signature raven locks for the ‘American Idol’ finale and we can’t get over how different it looks from the blonde hair she’s been rocking over the last year. Perry started out her career back in 2008 with natural black hair but has made several dramatic switches to her look over the years. However, she wore her hair long and dark this past Sunday for the 3-hour ‘American Idol’ finale. This style certainly suits her!
Perry’s stylist Jesus Guerrero shared the new look on his social media on Monday, with Perry rocking a long black mane complimented by a flashy red sequined jumpsuit. Guerrero captioned the image, “Black hair for #Americanidol finale,” and Perry herself quickly took to her own Instagram to share more shots of the look. Posing in front of a dumpster, Perry struck a fierce pose while her hair hung down over the back of her shoulders. Fans were enamored with the shocking new look, with one writing, “The prettiest girl in the world.” Another commented, “2016 vibes. I’m living for it.”
Not long after the reveal of her new locks, Perry shared more images to Instagram revealing that it was simply a wig and she was not, in fact, done with being blonde. The 36-year-old singer posted some pictures of her fellow ‘American Idol’ judges Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan both trying on her dark wig, hardly pulling it off as well as Perry herself. Richie’s daughter Nicole clearly felt the same, commenting on Perry’s post of her father wearing the wig, “I am very upset.” Honestly, us too.
Now officially back to her wavy blonde crop, this past week just goes to show that Perry can really pull off anything. When it comes to summer style, a lighter look fits the season, but we can’t wait to see what color wig Perry opts for next. With the help of longtime stylist Guerrero, we’re sure it will be an enviable look!
