After Katy Perry announced that this season of American Idol would be her last, fans were left with one burning question: who would replace her spot? Who would sit alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie to judge America’s best singers? Well according to insider sources who have confirmed the suspicions of fans, it sounds like Jennifer Lopez could be making her return to the judge’s seat. Keep reading for more details.

Jennifer Lopez Is Reportedly Asked Back To 'American Idol'

JLo would be an obvious choice for the open seat. She's judged on American Idol before, for seasons 10-15. With such powerful vocals, she definitely has the expertise to judge up and coming vocalists, and many look up to her for her decades-long career. Rumors around her return have been swirling ever since Katy Perry appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to announced her exit, and now, a source has seemingly confirmed it.

"A return from the past is on the cards," a source close to the television show told DailyMail. "JLo will be asked to come back. When people come back, things work...people like nostalgia, and people like Jen. It would be big to get her back." And with her recent movie, This Is Me...Now, and her album of the same name being major flops, it seems like she may be in need of a job!

Katy Perry Weighs In On Her Replacement

While it hasn't been officially announced who would be replacing her, Katy has responded to the question of who could ever fill her shoes. "Just someone that can put up with Luke and Lionel," she joked. But on a more serious note, she added. "Keep my seat warm." Does this mean she's planning for her exit to be temporary? We certainly hope so!

Either way, it's going to be a big season for the show. "It gives the show a new life because this entire season there will be talk about who her replacement will be," the insider source continued. "If they do a complete overhaul, the show will be in the news the entire time."
