Kelly Clarkson has been going through a painful and public divorce over the last year, but at long last, leighway is finally being made in her settlement case with ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The couple have been struggling to allocate their belongings since Clarkson filed for divorce back in 2020 after seven years of marriage, but the court has made a decision as to the legal owner of at least one large issue in their divorce: the house.
As of Monday, a judge ruled that Clarkson was the true owner of her Montana ranch, despite Blackstock insisting it was “marital property,” and currently living at the home amidst the aftermath of the split. Unfortunately for the 44-year-old music manager, the judge stated that the property lies within the pair’s prenuptial agreement. Therefore, as Clarkson purchased the home, it is now hers.
This is not the only home that the court decided was solely Clarkson’s property, with the ruling stating, "The Court further finds that the Montana Ranch and the other two Montana properties are not titled in both of the Parties' names either as joint tenants with right of survivorship or as tenants by the entireties, as required under the PMA to create marital property. The Court therefore rejects Respondent's [Blackstock's] position that the Montana Ranch and other Montana properties are marital property owned 50/50 by the Parties."
The ruling comes after Blackstock allegedly contested the prenup, claiming that as the house was purchased within the time he and Clarkson were together with her income, it is also partially his. These were not the first waves the music manager had created in the messy divorce, and after requesting $436,000 in support each month, Clarkson was eventually ordered to pay Blackstock a whopping $200,000 a month in child and spousal support.
Clarkson’s divorce was finalized back in August--over a year after she first filed, and the singer also gained primary physical custody of the pair’s children, River Rose and Remington Alexander, back in November of last year. Despite the messy divorce, the 39-year-old former ‘American Idol’ winner has been keeping herself busy acting as one of the four coaches on the latest season of ‘The Voice’ alongside Ariana Grande, Blake Shelton, and John Legend.
