Kelly Clarkson & Brett Eldredge Dating Rumors Reemerge On Social Media
The speculation surrounding the relationship status of the duo began in 2020, after the release of their Christmas track. The lyrics of the song, as many fans pointed out on X (formerly Twitter), convey the desire to be with someone and the courage it takes to reveal one's true feelings.
"Every time I look around this room/ My eyes, they tend to fall on you/ And I confess/ Nothing but you makes sense/ Memories fill my heart/ And I can barely keep my tears from fallin'/ Oh, I want your love/ Do you ever think of us?" they sing.
Although they sang to one another expressing their longing for love, Eldredge confirmed in March 2023 that he and Clarkson were not romantically involved. "Yeah, those [rumors] always come. It's crazy but it's just people I love to make music with," the "Drunk on Your Love" crooner dished to Hello! Magazine at the time.
He added: "I've been very fortunate to get to work with incredible women, and just powerful human beings and great people too, and to get to share the stage with them, it's a dream."
Regarding Clarkson, Eldredge said: "Kelly reached out about doing 'Under The Mistletoe' and I'm a huge fan of hers. I remember seeing her in concert when she was on the American Idol tour after she had just won and I was so in awe of the power of her voice and just the person she was." He gushed: "I couldn’t believe I got to sing with her."
In September of 2023, during an Instagram Live, Clarkson enthusiastically expressed her "love" for Eldredge and her desire to collaborate with him in the future (our fingers are crossed!) "I like him so much. He is — I love his music, his country music, but I’m telling you what … I love his Christmas stuff," the Kelly Clarkson Show host told fans.
Eldredge's current romantic status appears to be unattached, yet he remains optimistic about discovering true love. In an October 2022 episode of the "People Every Day" podcast, he got candid about his pursuit of a partner. "I think there's a lot of wonder and romance to the idea of love at Christmas," the "Don't Ya" singer shared. "I love my family and everything, [but] I don't have the person I [will] share my life with, exactly. But I'm very open to it and I'm getting closer by the day and I'm very optimistic."
As for Clarkson's love life, it made headlines in the past few years due to her tumultuous divorce from Brandon Blackstock. Their almost seven-year-long marriage ended in 2020, with Clarkson filing for divorce.
In March 2022, the divorce was finalized, and the "Since U Been Gone" hitmaker was ordered to make a one-time payment of $1.3 million to Blackstock and commit to providing monthly spousal and child support for their two children (daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7).
Following such a turbulent separation, it is hardly astonishing that Clarkson is currently relishing her newfound independence. According to an insider who spoke to Us Weekly in March 2023, she has little desire to return to the dating scene (even if fans think they found a perfect match for her in Eldredge).
"Kelly has joked about the fact that she’s going to be single forever, but at the same time she realizes forever is a long time," the source said.
They added: "Although she truly doesn’t see herself dating or getting married again, her friends have encouraged her to at least be open to the idea of putting herself out there. However, it’s just not where her head is at right now."
During a September 2023 Instagram Live video for her 7.2 million followers, Clarkson reiterated her contentment with her life right now. She stressed that she "loves being single."
She told viewers: "Do I have a boyfriend? No! And not looking … I have two kids, two dogs, three rabbits, a hamster, multiple jobs. You know, you think you’re going to spend the rest of your life with somebody, and you don’t. It’s hard to start over."
