After making a decisive move to New York City, Kelly Clarkson has shared in a new interview that there seems to be no viable reason for her to return to Los Angeles in the future. The “Mine” singer, 40, recently made headlines by relocating her eponymous daytime talk show studio from the West Coast to the city that never sleeps where she now hosts her program.
Interestingly, with Clarkson’s shift to the East Coast being primarily motivated by her desire to be closer to family members, speculations had begun to swirl about her continued participation as a coach on The Voice. As many fans may know, the immensely popular singing competition show films out of Los Angeles.
However, despite being a beloved coach and cast member of the NBC show in the past, Clarkson appears to have quelled all doubts about her Voice future in a recent interview with USA Today. “I’ve learned a lot about what I’m capable of handling, and also what you should not handle. That was me saying ‘bye’ to The Voice and having this big move,” she told the outlet.

Clarkson added, regarding The Voice: "I love that family, but I was like, ‘I’m struggling. I can’t smile anymore. I don’t feel like smiling.’" The Grammy winner boasts a long-standing relationship with The Voice.
Her first stint on the show was during Season 2 when she graced the screen as an advisor to Blake Shelton. However, her talents did not go unnoticed, and she was invited back for Season 13, where she served as an advisor to all the coaches, including Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine, and Jennifer Hudson.
The "Since U Been Gone" hitmaker was later announced as an official coach starting with Season 14 and went on to stay on the show for an impressive eight seasons until the end of Season 21. She also came back for Season 23, which aired earlier this year.
Shortly after Clarkson sat down with USA Today, Voice fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts on her likely never returning to the competition. "You never say never in life @kellyclarkson better come back," one wrote as another added: "Why? Kelly you can't leave The Voice!!! It won't be the same without you!!!" Someone else replied: "Kelly thanks for all the joy you brought us... You will be so missed... Hope this gives you more time to do things you have always wanted to do."
Clarkson is the mother of two children, daughter River, 9, and son Remington, 7, both of whom she shares with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The former couple's marriage came to an end in 2020, and after much deliberation and legal proceedings, they finalized their divorce last year. This also inspired her move from LA to NYC.
She also added to the publication regarding her past few months in the Big Apple and filming her talk show there: "What's cool for me with Season 5 is I am in such a great place, not only with my kids, but with me personally and with the show."
The American Idol winner continued: "I feel like a weight has lifted. That move was very needed. I think the thing I'm most excited about with Season 5, on a selfish level, is just showing up to work smiling and actually meaning it. That's a beautiful gift that you don't realize until you're out of it."
