We Can’t Believe What Kelly Clarkson Just Said About Dating Again After Divorce!
January 24, 2022 by Marissa Matozzo
Kelly Clarkson is understandably very busy— from coaching on The Voice to hosting her own self-titled talk show to releasing a Christmas album last month. It would be pretty difficult to find time to date on top of all of her other commitments, we presume.
As you might remember, Clarkson, 39, divorced from her husband of 7 years, music manager Brandon Blackstock, 45, in June 2020. According to HollywoodLife, a source close to the singer updated the publication on her romantic life, and what she recently said about getting back into dating. Clarkson, who rarely speaks about dating after her divorce, was said by the source to not be “convinced that she’s ready [to date] just yet.”
“Kelly’s friends have been such a huge support system during her divorce from Brandon. All they want is for her to be happy,” the source said. It seems that her friends think Clarkson would benefit most from getting back out there, but it may not be what she wants at the moment.
“They’ve been encouraging Kelly to test the waters and try the dating scene again,” the source continued. “Kelly has given this a lot of thought, but she’s the type of person who gives a lot of love and she knows that she deserves someone who will treat her like the incredible woman that she is.”
Clarkson shares daughter River Rose, 7, and son, Remington, 5, with Blackstock, and the two co-parent them. She was awarded primary physical custody the two kids, who currently live with her in LA.
The source also mentioned that “Kelly had no desire to even think about dating throughout the course of her divorce from Brandon. Not only because of the pandemic, but because she had so much going on and she was dealing with a huge life transition.”
Lastly, the source explained that even though Clarkson’s divorce from Blackstock “hasn’t been finalized yet,” she’s “still legally single in the eyes of the law.” The source’s closing words were that Clarkson “hasn’t been on dates, or even found someone that catches her interest yet. She is still adjusting to her new normal in life and a romantic relationship just isn’t on her radar at the moment.”
With her many career ventures, successful music career and A-list celebrity status, it makes sense that dating in the midst of a pandemic would be too time-consuming for Clarkson, even almost two years after her divorce. As we rarely receive spoken love life updates from her, this news may come as a surprise, but her sentiment is still understandable.
