Kelly Clarkson has been divorced from Brandon Blackstock since August of 2021, and the pair have been separated for even longer, with Clarkson first filing for divorce in June of 2020. However, nearly 4.5 years isn’t a long enough single period—at least according to the talk show host‘s kids.

Clarkson recently revealed that her kids, River, 10, and Remington, 8, “constantly” tell her they don’t want her dating other people. She also noted, though, that she won’t be following their wishes. Keep reading for more information.

Kelly Clarkson's Kids Say No To Dating

Though Kelly hasn't been romantically linked to anyone since her divorce, it seems as if it's by design of her children. Speaking on KOST 103.5, the "Since U Been Gone" singer says that her kids can't picture her with anyone else. "They constantly bring it up," she said, recalling them asking her, "Please, we don't want you with anybody else."

"They're young, it's hard to picture their mom with someone else other than their dad." Clarkson and Blackstock were married for nearly 7 years before calling it quits, and it hasn't exactly been an amicable divorce—Clarkson has sued Blackstock a number of times for unlawfully procuring business deals on her behalf and acting as unlicensed talent agents.

Kelly Clarkson Won't Follow Her Kids' Wishes

Despite her kids' wishes for her to stay single, Clarkson noted that she won't be following their wishes exactly. "I have expressed like, 'Hey, I love you guys but Mommy needs lovings too."

However, that doesn't necessarily mean she's looking for anything serious. "I've got a lot on my plate," she continued. "I'm a magnet for people who are really all-in right off the bat," and coming off of the divorce, she's not ready for that level of commitment at the moment.

"It's not that I'm the type to go and kiss a bunch of people, I just don't–I'm very noncommittal at the moment," she explained. Rather, she's focusing on motherhood. "I'm seeing my kids grow real fast, and it’s going by real fast. I love hanging with my little ones. They’re so funny and they’re so cool and they’re only going to want me around for so long because they’re my kids and I know they’re going to be like me and be like, ‘Bye!’ Which I’m cool with, but I want to enjoy it for as long as I can."
