A whole host of singers have performed Judy Garland’s “Over the Rainbow” from the 1939 movie, The Wizard of Oz. But the internet believes Kelly Clarkson‘s rendition, which she performed during Kellyoke on the April 5th episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show eclipses, them all!
Dressed in an all-black ensemble consisting of a black long-sleeved sweater, a black Citizens of Humanity buttoned midi skirt, and black Gucci platform sandals, the 41-year-old “Since U Been Gone” singer left the audience speechless as she performed the iconic song during the popular Kellyoke segment.

The song actually has a special place in the mom-of-two’s heart, as she revealed back in 2017 that she sings it to her daughter River Rose, who she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
“She’ll always cut me off and go, ‘Birds, mommy, birds.’ She always wants me to get to the bird part,” Clarkson told Today back in 2017. We assume the lyrics River was referring to are: “Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow; why, then, oh why can’t I?”
Fans React To Kelly Clarkson's 'Over The Rainbow' Performance
"I think Judy would be proud of this. Knowing her legacy still lives on in this rendition made me smile," gushed one fan on an April 5th YouTube video of the performance. "Holy mother of God! Ok, Judy Garland is the standard and no one will ever beat her, but (for me) this is the BEST VERSION of the many, many, many, many, many covers we all have heard! Of course it had to be Kelly Clarkson!" exclaimed another.
"Please put this on the next Kellyoke album so I can dance to it at my wedding," begged another fan. "This is 'Over the Rainbow' in its purest form. No lyric changes, not many musical changes, like the extra belts or runs that are in other covers. Just someone with an astounding voice singing an iconic song," commented another fan.
"Gosh, Kelly's voice is so beautiful. She's THE American Idol winner for a reason," thought another fan, as someone else said: "Kelly never ceases to amaze." "Kelly covered this better than anyone I've heard! I lived a lot years and she brought me to tears with rendition! Loved it!" praised another fan.
