Kelly Clarkson Breaks Down In Tears During Live Performance In Resurfaced Video That Has Fans Reacting: 'I Cried With Her'

As Kelly Clarkson‘s victorious win on American Idol and her subsequent stardom has spanned almost two decades, fans are still touched by her heartfelt reaction to the momentous occasion.

A recently surfaced video from 2002, shared on the official Instagram page for The Today Show, features a 20-year-old Clarkson (now 41) watching a video of her own win, as she sat with host Katie Couric.

During the clip, Clarkson emotionally recalled her tearful rendition of “A Moment Like This” after being crowned the winner, as well as the teary-eyed moment that followed on The Today Show. Moved by her sincerity, fans flocked to the comments section to share how her victory and her touching reaction video had them shedding tears as well.

A Resurfaced Video Of Kelly Clarkson From 2002 Is Making Fans Emotional On Instagram

On November 27th, The Today Show captioned their post: “We just HAD to take a look back to when one of our favorite 30 Rock neighbors @kellyclarkson visited the TODAY Show just hours after becoming the first American Idol back in 2002!”

In the clip, Clarkson shared that she was thinking, after her win: “there’s so many talented people out there” and that she “couldn’t believe” she won the competition out of “ten thousand people.”

The "Since U Been Gone" hitmaker also said that she looked at her mom when singing the song later made her famous and "started bawling." Clarkson also had tears in her eyes when talking to Couric as the host played the video of Clarkson's performance.

Fans headed to the post comment section after seeing both clips and shared their thoughts. "I sat and cried with her...am I alone???" one wrote as another added: "I can’t believe it’s been over 20 years since this." Someone else chimed in: "She is still that humble person and killing it in her career !!!"  

Clarkson's rise to fame as the first "Idol" catapulted her into stardom, leading to millions of albums sold, multiple Billboard chart-topping hit singles, and three prestigious Grammy awards.

She's also since expanded her talents to coaching on The Voice, hosting her own acclaimed namesake talk show since 2019, while also raising two children.

Additionally, her talk show has garnered multiple Emmy Awards, further cementing her status as a multifaceted, stylish and successful entertainer.

We're not going to lie... we teared up while watching this resurfaced video of Clarkson, too!
