Kelly Clarkson Credits Walking In New York City And A Protein-Packed Diet For Her Weight Loss
While not everyone can get their hands on weight loss injections or afford expensive gym memberships, the mom-of-two revealed some of the things she did that absolutely *anyone* can do. And that's eat a healthy, protein-packed diet and get plenty of exercise!
She explained in her People interview that moving her award-winning talk show from Los Angeles to New York instantly helped her get more exercise in, as it enabled her to get more steps in throughout the day. So simple! "Walking in the city is quite the workout," the former The Voice coach said. This is great to hear, as you don't need expensive gym memberships to walk outside, which means it's something that absolutely everyone can do!
"We go walk the dogs a few times at the park," she added, in reference to her daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remington Alexander, 8, both of whom she shares with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. "We'll go for ice cream because my daughter will wear me down," she continued, adding: "We'll go make slime and we go to the museum."
But they're not the only things she credited for her svelte frame. In her People interview, Kelly said: "I'm really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down."
Walking the dogs with your children, wandering around a museum, and getting in a hot sauna all sound like great low-impact ways to burn calories!
Kelly Clarkson Reveals More About Her 'Healthy' Protein-Packed Diet
Of course, the "Underneath The Tree" singer's figure is also down to the things she eats, which she told the magazine about in a little more detail. "I eat a healthy mix," she began, before going on to talk about how her protein-packed diet helped her to "drop weight."
"I dropped weight because I've been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn't," she confessed, adding, "And 90 percent of the time I'm really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I'm a Texas girl, so I like meat — sorry, vegetarians in the world!"
She also spoke about her diet in a conversation with Hoda Kotb on Today. She said she essentially eats the "same" things as people who might not be following a weight loss diet, but swaps out some of the ingredients for slightly healthier ones. "It's the same stuff you eat, I just use different ingredients," she revealed. "Even like fried chicken, I use cassava flour, tapioca, or almond flour, and you use non-hormone chicken."
Insider Says Kelly Clarkson 'Put Some Weight Back On'
While the singer lost a total of 60 lbs., which one source said left her looking "emaciated," she has actually put some weight back on. And everyone agrees that she has never looked better!
"She was so emaciated and frail-looking before," the source recently told Life & Style. "Kelly's actually put a little weight back on, and it looks good on her. She's lost that 'I'm so hungry right now' expression, and her eyes are brighter, her smile more genuine."
"Now, she's the perfect, normal size. She's enjoying her meals and has a healthy glow about her," they continued, adding: "Obviously, there's always going to be that danger of going back the other way, and she needs to regulate things, but everyone seems to be in agreement that Kelly hasn't looked better."
