Kelly Clarkson is absolutely smashing it on multiple fronts with her talk show and Kellyoke performances, but not all news around the “Mine” singer is positive this week.

Despite The Kelly Clarkson Show‘s success, Chemistry, her latest album (inspired by her highly-publicized divorce from Brandon Blackstock), hasn’t been performing so well in the charts. And according to an anonymous insider, the American Idol winner is reportedly feeling the disappointment.

Kelly Clarkson Reportedly Disappointed By Reception To Her Latest Album

More than a heartbreak-oriented record, the long-awaited LP (which was released on June 23) seems to chronicle her entire relationship with Blackstock and different stages of love and loss.

But the "Since U Been Gone" hitmaker appears to be taking it harder than expected, as RadarOnline reveals Clarkson is in despair over Chemistry's below-average sales, which sold under 54,000 copies, as Cinema Blend notes.

As if that wasn't enough of a let-down, the singer-songwriter is likely feeling even more despondent given the record's paltry peak of #6 on the Billboard Top 200, as well as its slide to #83 in the second week and #180 in the third week.

The anonymous source told the outlet that when it comes to Clarkson's current state, "Kelly's album about her divorce is tanking is almost as crushing as the failure of her marriage." The insider went on: "Kelly is dismayed by the pathetic numbers, especially after she did a ton of press to promote it. Having a hit talk show is wonderful, but Kelly considers herself, first and foremost, a singer. If she had to pick between a TV career and singing, singing would win every time."

Though the veracity of this statement is unknown, it's easy to sympathize with the "Because Of You" artist should she really feel that way.

Despite this, Clarkson's talk show is continuing to garner millions of viewers and undeniable success.

Back in May, Clarkson announced that her namesake talk show will move production from its current Universal Los Angeles lot to the iconic NBC Studios in 30 Rockefeller Plaza in the Big Apple for its next season.

An NBCUniversal spokesperson confirmed this to Entertainment Tonight (ET), and Variety noted that the Clarkson's show will film in Studio 6A with a live studio audience. It debuted in 2019, and was renewed through 2025 back in November 2022.

The soon-to-be NYC-based show has notably scored 13 Daytime Emmys, including three for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for Clarkson (2020 to 2022) and two for Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment (2021 to 2022).

For the 2023 Emmys, it is nominated for 11 Daytime Emmys, including Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host and Outstanding Talk Series.
