Kelly Ripa is more than thankful for her role on All My Children. The 50-year-old reflected on her time on the show during an interview with ET’s Rachel Smith. Throughout their conversation, Ripa could not say enough good things about the show and what it continues to mean for her personally.
Ripa met her husband, Mark Consuelos, on the show when they starred together as Hayley Vaughan and Mateo Santos. As their characters played a couple onscreen, Ripa and Consuelos fell in love. They’ve been married since 1996 and have three children together: Michael, 23, Lola, 19, and Joaquin, 17.
Understandably, Ripa was ready to gush about what the show did for her both personally and professionally.
"All My Children is responsible for my entire life," she said. "I don't like say that lightly. I met my husband on All My Children. I had my children on All My Children."
She continued, "I got [Live With Regis and Kelly] standing in my dressing room on All My Children. It's responsible for my entire life. I'm not being glib when I say that."
Ripa added that she was "devastated" when the show was canceled in 2011 despite the fact that she had left it years earlier.
She explained, "Not for myself because I had left the show by then, but I was devastated for the fan base cause it means so much to them."
It makes sense then, that Ripa and Consuelos are executive producers of Pine Valley, a primetime follow-up series for All My Children that is in early development for ABC. Writing about the new series on Instagram, Ripa quipped, "Because what does 'that’s a wrap' even mean?"
