Kelly Ripa just revealed that she hates being in front of the camera, despite her successful, 30-year career in TV. The celeb recently appeared on Bethenny Frankel’s “Just B” podcast, sharing her true thoughts on her job.

“I’ve been saying that it’s time to ‘fold ’em’ for 20 years,” Ripa said. “For 20 years I’ve been saying, ‘I can’t do it anymore. I can’t do it. I’m too old for this crap. I need to find another career. I need to get off camera.’ I’ve been saying that forever.”

She continued, "I don't like the attention, I don't go to parties, I don't go to Hollywood events. I don't do any of that stuff. I would rather buy clothes than have to ask to borrow anything. It's painful."

Ripa also mentioned that she is self-conscious about seeing herself on TV.

Ripa began her television career in 1990, first acting in soap operas before ultimately moving into morning talk shows. From 1990 to 2002, she played the role of Hayley Vaughan in ABC’s All My Children, then played Faith Fairfield in ABC’s sitcom Hope & Faith from 2003 to 2006.

In 2000, Ripa began co-hosting Live! With Regis and Kelly after previous co-host Kathie Lee Gifford decided to leave the show. She has been hosting the show ever since.

Ripa told Frankel that the real reason she hasn’t retired yet is because she loves working with her current co-host, Ryan Seacrest. The two have been starring in Live! With Kelly and Ryan since 2017 and seem to be great friends.

"I talk about this with Ryan all the time because I was really looking to retire like by now, but Ryan Seacrest is so fabulous to work with and he is such a good friend," Ripa said. "I just love working with him so much. He makes every day feel like I'm not working and that's when you know you have a great working relationship."

Ripa revealed that when she does retire from hosting on TV, she wants to remain in the industry in a behind-the-scenes type of role. She mentioned writing as an area she would like to explore.

She told Frankel, "I’ve been writing a lot, so my goal ultimately would be to eventually get off camera and start working behind the camera more in that creative aspect. I really do enjoy the writing process so much."
