Everyone knows that Coachella is one part music, and the other part fashion. And Kendall Jenner took her Coachella look on the first weekend of the California music festival very seriously, as not only did she turn up with an enviable outfit, but she also debuted a brand new hair cut which was done by celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan. If she was trying to give people something other than her rumored relationship with Bad Bunny to focus on, she did a good job!
On April 15th, the 27-year-old model was spotted at the invite-only festival Revolve, which featured drinks from her alcohol brand, 818 Tequila; and her brunette locks were looking a little shorter and shaggier than usual. Several reports have since suggested that she had what is referred to as “dusting,” and we want, nay, *need* to know more!

Kendall Jenner Debuts ‘Dusting’ And ‘Ghost Layers’ At Coachella
What is dusting, you ask? Dusting is the term given to hair that has received a subtle yet strategic snip to achieve a lightweight and healthy appearance, while being virtually undetectable. Similar to a trim – but with even less hair removed from the length – dusting cleverly involves cutting the hair in a way that makes it look fuller and healthier without compromising on length, as if by magic. It’s the perfect haircut for anyone who doesn’t really want to commit to a dramatic cut but wants their hair to look shiny, voluminous, and healthy… and we think we’re going to see a lot more A-listers trying this out over the next few months!
Although Kendall’s length didn’t appear to change much – although we think any split ends were gotten rid of – the key difference was in the style, especially the pieces at the front that framed her face, as they were styled in an almost 90s-esque bend. Cosmopolitan reports that Kendall also got some super-subtle ghost layers cut too, which is what contributed to her hair’s effortless shaggy appearance that flowed in the breeze so perfectly.
A ghost layer has been described as a layer within a layer; the hair is cut at different lengths, with the shorter pieces adding motion to the hair, while the longer layers help those shorter layers blend in seamlessly and go undetected. Dua Lipa and Jennifer Lopez are apparently other A-list fans of ghost layers, according to Cosmopolitan, which are apparently great for anyone with fine hair, so Kendall is in good company!
Paul Percival, hairstylist and founder of Percy & Reed, told Cosmo back in January this year: "Ghost layers are basically layers in a haircut that you can't actually see. The way they create them is by lifting normal sections and then weaving rather than one hard line. And then you can actually twist that section and slide the scissor through, or chop into the weave section, but it's basically a way of creating a look of a haircut that looks like is one thing, but it actually has ghost layers." Dusting and ghost layers are what we are asking for at our next trip to the salon!

Kendall Jenner's Effortless Coachella Outfit
The rest of Kendall's outfit was just as effortlessly enviable as her haircut. She wore a St. Agni organic cotton cut out tank teamed with the low waist raw edge pants that allowed her to show some skin, teamed with The Row's 'Kris' sandals (do we think she chose them in honor of her mom, Kris Jenner, or was it just a coincidence?) and a vintage Fendi brown and purple lizard baguette bag. She accessorized with some vintage Gucci sunglasses and Agmes Jewelry earrings.
