The price of just about everything is rising these days—and fast food is no exception. Many fast food items seem to be shrinking, too, which means customers are paying more money for smaller portions. This phenomena, known as “shrinkflation,” is even the subject of an entire Reddit thread where consumers air their grievances with fast food chains and their tiny offerings. KFC is one of the latest offenders, as one poster has complained about the shrinking size of their fillets. Say it ain’t so! Find all the details below.

KFC fillets seem to be shrinking

KFC may be known for their finger-lickin' good chicken, but the taste can only go so far when the portions are tiny. One Reddit user recently took to r/Shrinkflation to call out a shockingly small chicken fillet. In fact, he was so upset by the size that he says he won't be returning to the restaurant.

"I haven't been to KFC for at least 12 months and the size of the fillets on their burgers are just ridiculous now," he posted. He noted that he paid $12.50 in US dollars ($8.50 in Australia) for the sandwich, which he says is "no more than 5mm thick." Talk about disappointing!

"We all know the burgers never look like they do in the pictures but this really is taking the p--- now as the photos has a fillet at least 20-25mm thick." Indeed, the fast food industry is notorious for bulking up meals in advertisements (there have even been lawsuits over this), but such a large difference in expectations vs. reality is staggering.

It's even enough to turn one customer away for good. "Anyways personally I won't be going back ever again," the poster concluded.

Commenters jumped in to validate these complaints. "That’s like the size of the boot shaped McNugget for more than the cost of a Popeyes classic," one person joked. But even McNuggets are shrinking!

Someone else agreed, sharing a picture of their own KFC burger, which practically fit into the palm of their hand. "When did the burgers get so small that it would take 3 bites to finish?" they wrote.

Other restaurants accused of "shrinkflation" include Taco Bell, McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, and just about everything under the sun. What do you think? Are these mouthwatering meals still worth the price if they're small, or will you stick to your own kitchen from now on? Let us know in the comments!
