Khloe Kardashian is no stranger to filters and photo edits. But considering her perfectly curated feed on Instagram, it can sometimes be difficult to remember that’s not what she always looks like IRL. So when an unedited photo of the reality star made its way to the internet, fans and critics freaked out. In the pic, the 36-year-old looks like a normal person – and, according to the Kardashian team (and plenty of others), that’s a problem.

Khloe looks beautiful in both pictures, but there is a stark contrast between the two of them – and fans took notice.

Tracy Romulus, chief marketing officer for KKW Brands, put out a statement about the situation. “The color edited photo was taken of Khloe during a private family gathering and posted to social media without permission by mistake by an assistant. Khloe looks beautiful but it is within the right of the copyright owner to not want an image not intended to be published taken down.”

Understandably, fans are not taking the news well. One tweeted at Khloe, “[T]he behavior around the unedited photo is atrocious and elitist. You had a prime opportunity to own your natural beauty – showing young girls how they should value themselves. Instead you/your brand – which we all know is edited in photos …missed the mark here.”
Another wrote, “[A]ctually sad to see how many people, especially Woman are blown away by how she really looks. How stupid and delusional you have to be to think people look like this. She lost a lot of money today because of how she really looks. take this in for a moment.”
“Imagine being able to inspire women to love themselves deeply for who they are and their bodies and then being like, nah,” one commented.

In response to the criticism, Khloe has come out with a heartbreaking statement of her own along with some unedited videos (above). The star got super vulnerable in the post, commenting on how the pressure “to be perfect and to meet other people’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear.”
She added, “You never quite get used to being judged and pulled apart and told how unattractive one is, but I will say if you hear anything enough then you start to believe it.”
Her post has gotten plenty of support. Kendall Jenner commented, “yes! you beautiful, strong, HEALTHY queen.” Kim Kardashian also replied, “I love you Khloe.”
