Khloé Kardashian Shares Images From Skin Cancer Healing Journey
On her Instagram Story this past Tuesday, Khloé shared a series of images detailing her experience with skin cancer, including getting surgery and eventually filler to deal with the indentation left by the melanoma's excision. "For those who do not know I had a skin cancer scare on my face. We had to remove a tumor from my cheek, I was left with an indention. I am definitely not complaining because I would rather have an indention than melanoma any day."
Khloé included a picture of the resulting indentation, along with further explanation. "This is my indentation before my Armenian Tribe helped fill my cheek with the ok from [plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fischer,]" she noted. "I waited over nine months to get this [indentation] filled by the way. Patience is everything and of course we have to make sure medically everything is all safe." On a series of photos showing the immediate results of the surgery, including her stitches, scar, and original indentation, the Good American founder wrote, "Be consistent with your skin cancer checks! No one is exempt."
Kardashian also profusely thanked her Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Garth Fischer, for his great work on the surgery, not only for excising all of the melanoma but also preserving her famous, much-photographed face. "Not only did [Dr. Fischer] remove the tumor and made sure that I am completely cancer free but he did such a f------ stellar job on making my scar as small and beautiful as possible...[he] made sure to protect the stitches and make sure everything was as flat as possible so there was no stretching of the scar, incision area, and we tried to avoid keloiding as much as possible. He's just the best," the star praised.
Just under a year ago, Khloé first revealed the tumor's removal after media outlets noted the model often sporting a bandage on her face. The reality star wrote that, after having the original bump on her cheek biopsied, "Dermatologist Dr. Tess Mauricio examined it, and a second biopsy was ran by Dr. Daniel Behroozan because what they both were seeing was incredibly rare for someone my age. A few days later I was told I need to have an immediate operation to remove a tumor from my face. I called none other than Dr. Garth Fischer, a dear friend of my families and one of the best surgeons in Beverly Hills who I knew would take incredible care of my face," she wrote in October 2022.
Fischer would later post a tribute to Khloé, writing that he felt like had operated on his "own daughter": "I am tremendously relieved that we got it all out and you can now get past this. You’re beautiful and have a heart of gold,” he wrote. “Now let’s get this scar to heal great and be mindful of too much sun exposure :).
The youngest Kardashian sister added in 2022, "You’ll continue to see my bandages and when I’m allowed, you’ll probably see a scar (and an indentation in my cheek from the tumor being removed) but until then I hope you enjoy how fabulous I’m making these face bandages look."
