Our hearts are breaking for Khloé Kardashian even more, as it’s just been revealed that she found out about Tristan Thompson’s affair with 31-year-old personal trainer Maralee Nichols – and the child he allegedly fathered on his birthday back in March – on social media, not the 30-year-old Sacramento Kings player himself! Poor Khloé!
“Khloé was shocked to her core when she found out – and even more shocked at how she found out,” an insider told The Sun. “It wasn’t Tristan who told her, it was messages on social media that her team were getting way before the story came out. Khloé may now be saying they’ve been broken up since spring – but that’s not the whole story.”
The insider went on to say that Khloé's loved ones are "furious" with Tristan, and are really encouraging her to give up the hope of being a traditional family of three with their three-year-old daughter True, after she gave Tristan "one last chance" to prove himself and he clearly wasn’t able to stay "out of trouble."
"She had actually been giving Tristan 'one last chance' – he was getting therapy, and staying single and out of trouble and then they were going to see where they were at," the insider continued. "Her family are furious she's been left embarrassed again. They've told her she's been humiliated for the last time. They're telling her co-parenting and a friendly relationship is fine, but getting back together with him and acting like a couple is too far." They continued: "It's humiliating on so many levels. Kim and Kris aren't happy with Tristan and everyone will be surprised if they welcome him back into the family. If they do, it'll be for True's sake."
It's not yet known when the 37-year-old Good American founder officially found out about the athlete's latest infidelities, although Nichols filed a child support lawsuit against Thompson almost six months ago; on June 30th to be exact! In the lawsuit, Nichols claimed that their son was conceived on the night of the basketball star's 30th birthday in March, while he was still together with Khloé. Thompson reportedly admitted to having sex with her "several times" at a Houston hotel after his birthday party, but allegedly requested to have a paternity test when the child was born.
Now here's where it gets really interesting. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Thompson allegedly offered Nichols $75,000 to stay quiet about their affair and the baby, while also telling the personal trainer that he will be technically unemployed when he retires from basketball after the current season, which will affect child support payments. I.e., she was encouraged to take the hush money because she would receive a much smaller amount in child support after his retirement.
"You are aware that I’m retiring after this season. So in terms of support it will be whatever is required monthly for someone who’s unemployed," Tristan's message to Maralee allegedly read.
"It’s Texas so it will be only a couple hundred dollars. So you better off taking this 75k I’m offering cause you won’t get nothing near that with having a kid with a father who’s unemployed." He concluded: "All you will have is a baby with a father who has zero involvement with the child and a few hundred dollars of child support a month."
