News of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s impending divorce has dominated the news cycle over the last several days. But while it initially seemed that the couple were handling their breakup with maturity, new reports have emerged that the relationship was more toxic than we had imagined. Sources say that Kardashian was forced to live apart from her rapper husband due to deteriorating communication leading up to their separation.
The pair had been reportedly living apart for months, with Kardashian based in California with the rest of her family and West living out on a ranch in Wyoming, making new music. However, sources say that the separation was less about West needing space to make art and more about their struggling relationship.
A source from Us Weekly revealed, “Kim and Kanye had no option but to live apart in the end because the communication between them had gotten so downright toxic. They went into the latter part of 2020 with the very best of intentions and wanted to find a way to get along when they spent time together. But it reached the point where the bickering turned to nasty blowups and confrontations, and since neither of them wanted the kids exposed to that type of hostility, they [stayed] apart."
According to the source, the couple had been trying to make things work into the end of 2020, but it got to a point where they were simply coexisting without truly enjoying their time together. Kardashian and West allegedly tried therapy, but have since decided that a separation is for the best.
The couple wed in 2014 and have three children together, but after over six years together, West and Kardashian are simply in different phases of life. West has been very public about his struggles with mental health over the last year and sources have shared that this too put a strain on the relationship.
