Kim Kardashian has been left embarrassed and angry over ex-husband Kanye West‘s controversial behavior – which has included anti-Semitic outbursts – on many occasions over the years; and psychology experts are now wondering how it is affecting their four children.

On TMZ Investigates: Kanye West: Unhinged But Unstoppable, which aired on Monday, February 5th, psychology experts discussed whether the 43-year-old Kardashians star should step in and limit the 46-year-old Yeezy designer’s relationship with their four children – daughters North and Chicago, and sons Saint and Psalm – amid his ongoing mental health struggles.

Kanye West's Behavior Analyzed By Psychology Experts In New 'TMZ' Special

The TMZ special included interviews with psychology experts, who analyzed West's behavior and his struggles with bipolar disorder, and discussed whether the Skims founder can deny the "Eazy" rapper access to their kids if his behavior gets too out of control. Some people do believe that Kanye's contact with his children should be limited if and when he struggles with his mental health, while others don't think that should happen unless he is directly putting them in danger.

"For Kim, I think that she would try to make sure that her kids understand that some of the things that come out of your father's mouth is not appropriate, is not acceptable," Dr. Kevin Cokley, Professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan, said in the special. "You can love him, because he is your father. But that does not mean you have to approve of everything he says," he added.

The special discussed whether the mom-of-four can even stop West from seeing his children, with Los Angeles psychiatrist Dr. Kyle Smith stating that it's impossible to shield your children from everything. He stated that, in his opinion, as long as Kanye isn't putting his children in danger, he should still be allowed to see them...

"We can't shield our kids from everything," Smith said. "So as long as [Kanye] is not locking them up in a bunker with guns or dangling them over windows or dangerous things of that nature, there's nothing the law nor the spouse can do about it."

Smith went on to discuss what having two world-famous parents, like Kim and Kanye, formerly known as Kimye, can do to children, and said: "To think that your children are going to grow up in a 'Leave It to Beaver' world is deluded. You marry a person who's famous for being flamboyant, famous for being erratic. It's a feature. It's not a bug. So when it goes awry, well then I'm sorry!"

Kim Kardashian Previously Said She Tries To Shield Her Children

It's clear that the Skkn by Kim mogul will always have a soft spot for the rapper, as he is the father of her four children; and she has openly spoken about feeling protective of him following their divorce on several occasions. "I definitely protected him – and I still will – in the eyes of my kids, for my kids," Kardashian said on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast in 2022.

And she may not like what the psychology experts had to say in the special, as she previously confessed that she tries to shield her children from the outside world as much as she can. "So in my home, my kids don't know anything that goes on in the outside world," she added, while admitting that it's getting increasingly more difficult to shield them from their father's behavior, and the public's reaction to his behavior.

"It's really [expletive] hard," Kardashian said at the time. "But if they don't know things that are being said, why would I ever bring that energy to them? That's like real heavy, heavy grown-up [expletive] that they're not ready to deal with."
