Yup, you read that right. The way you sleep can affect your complexion and be the reason behind those pesky dark circles and under-eye puffiness. Lancer told InStyle that sleeping on your side "can cause your face to fold into the pillow and put strain on the skin around your eyes," which he says results in dark circles and puffiness.

"To avoid this, try to sleep on your back; it doesn’t just benefit your face, but other areas of your body, like the chest, from potential wrinkles," he says. Good to know! If under-eye puffiness is your main concern, Lancer recommends sleeping with your head and chest slightly elevated on the pillow to help drain fluid from the face.

If you're a die hard side sleeper and cannot fathom the idea of sleeping on your back, then this tip will be a serious game changer. Invest in a pillow that's meant for back sleepers, as it will provide better neck support and make the transition from side sleeping to back sleeping easier!
