Another day, another Kardashian Instagram drama! This time it’s Kim Kardashian on the hot seat with fans, due to a snap she posted to social media of her and daughter North West, 9.
Followers are worried that Kim may be making North “grow up too soon” in regards to the photos posted to Instagram featuring both mother and daughter donning black leather—Kim in a skimpy black crop top and leather pants, North in a leather button-up and baggy bottoms. The controversy seems to be focused on the fact that North’s top is also cropped (though not as short as Kim’s), leading some to feel that the outfit is not appropriate for the 9-year-old.

Fans Comment: ‘Is She 9 Or 19?’
Response to the series of mom-and-daughter pics was mixed on Kim’s Instagram. “Is she 9 or 19?” asked one commenter, referring to North and her controversial outfit. “She’s fully covered…what’s the problem?” retorted another fan. “Barely [an] inch showing,” agreed one response.
Though many supported North’s chic Chanel outfit, others focused on how much older the duds made her appear. Users accused Kim of dressing North “like a teenager,” something that she’s been called out for several times before. For Halloween 2022 North dressed up as a member of 90s hip-hop girl group TLC with two other friends, sporting similar black leather ensembles and full faces of makeup. Reaction to Kim’s post with images of the costume ran negative—”At the risk of sounding like a hater, but they look way too grown up?? Why can’t they just have a normal kids costume?” questioned one Instagram commenter.

In January 2022, Kim’s ex-husband and North’s father Kanye West publicly responded to Kim’s social media posts of North with outrage: “Don’t have my daughter wearing lipstick on TikTok, or don’t have her on TikTok at all, if I’m not there to approve that.”
Commenters Fear Kim Is 'Kris 2.0'
One comment on the Instagram post garnered nearly 1,500 likes: "[Kim's] already started. Kris 2.0," said the user. The reference seems to be regarding mother Kris' notorious "stage mom" nature, which Kris herself dubbed as being a "Momager." Kris has long leaned in to her image of encouraging her children to stay in the spotlight, even participating in awkward events like Kim's nude Playboy photoshoot.
Twitter users echoed similar sentiments earlier this month when Kim and North headed to the Met Gala:

Kim has also been criticized for featuring North in the newest family reality show, The Kardashians, despite North's apparent discomfort with being in the spotlight and dealing with paparazzi.
However, for Kim it's apparently natural to highlight her fashionable daughter: "It's North's world, I'm just in it" reads the caption on Kim's controversial post.
