Kim Kardashian, 43, has always had an enviable body – and it’s no secret that she works incredibly hard for it, both in terms of her gruelling gym routine and the things she eats.
Although Kim’s weight has been a hot topic of discussion for many years, it seemed to reach its peak following the 2022 Met Gala, which saw her lose 16 lbs in just three weeks to fit into the late Marilyn Monroe’s iconic gold dress for the red carpet. She has since gone on to lose even more weight, and the internet has been desperate to find out how.
How Did Kim Kardashian Lose Weight?
How did she do it? The mom-of-four spends a lot of time working on her body in the gym – especially her world-famous derrière – with her trainer Melissa Alcantara previously telling Women's Health: "When it comes to booty and legs, we usually work out for an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes. You want to work out efficiently and be smart about it."
Although she claims to indulge every now and again, the Skims founder has said on several occasions that she tries to eat as healthily as possible. "I live a healthy life and try to eat as plant based as possible and drink sea moss smoothies," she previously told Poosh, the lifestyle site founded by older sister Kourtney Kardashian.
What Has Kim Kardashian Said About Her Weight Loss?
The Skkn by Kim founder may not be as forthcoming about the cosmetic surgery she may or may not have had done, but she has been a lot more open about her weight loss – especially when it came to her intense diet and exercise regime for the 2022 Met Gala. The Kardashians star likened the challenge to a movie star getting ready for a movie role, and told Vogue at the time: "It was such a challenge. It was like a [movie] role. I was determined to fit [into] it. I haven’t had carbs or sugar in about three weeks."
She naturally faced controversy for seemingly promoting unhealthy weight loss, and then defended her actions to Allure shortly afterwards. Telling the mag about how working closely with a trainer and a nutritionist enabled her to do it in a safe and healthy way – and a way which ensured she was never "starving" – Kim said: "If I was starving and doing it really unhealthy, I would say that, of course, that’s not a good message. But I had a nutritionist, I had a trainer. I have never drunk more water in my life."
She added: "I don’t see the criticism for other people when they lost weight for roles — they are [considered] geniuses for their craft. There are so many things out there that are so not accurate and not true."
Kim Previously Credited Cutting Out Sugar And Fried Foods And Completely Changing Her Lifestyle
Although Kim lost 16 lbs for the 2022 Met Gala red carpet, she told Today in 2022 that she had gone on to lose a total of 21 lbs, and said it was down to her drastically cutting down on sugar and totally changing her lifestyle!
"I'm down 21 lbs now," the reality TV star confessed at the time, before saying that she's "not trying to lose any more weight," but has noticed that she has "more energy than ever."
Talking about her new diet, she said: "I cut out so much sugar – a lot of junk food I was eating, I didn't realize, like a lot of fried foods." She added: "I just completely changed my lifestyle. It actually taught me a lot about my lifestyle and my health. Since then, afterwards, I continued to eat really healthy."
