The prospect of giving up gluten seems really daunting but with small steps you can easily eradicate it from your diet. Start with the obvious like breads, pastas and pizza. There are so many GF subs these days you won’t feel deprived. Then look for sneaky gluten like the kind in salad dressings, cold cuts, soy sauce, beer and imitation crab meat (bye California rolls).
Sugar
There is hidden sugar everywhere. You might think Kim avoids bagels for the carbs and gluten, but did you know that white carbs just turn into sugar once you eat them? Do your homework and find out what foods have the most sugars. Some are really obvious like muffins, pastries, candy, ice cream and soda. But even too many natural sugars like ones in certain fruits and veggies, can contribute to weight gain.
Dairy
We love dairy and we’d eat it all day. Somehow Kim has made a happy life without it. And in that happy life her body is hot, so we get the no dairy stance. But no milk? No cheese? No yogurt? Full-fat cow’s milk dairy does have a lot of calories and some people experience inflammation and belly bloating after eating dairy. Try limiting dairy and seeing how you feel. If you can get by with almond milk in your oatmeal, and suddenly your jeans feel loose, kiss dairy goodbye forever.
Cilantro
This much-maligned herb probably doesn’t have anything to do with Kim’s weight. But there is such a controversy over cilantro. You either love it or hate it. And we kind of love that she despises it!
