Kim Kardashian Faces Backlash For 'Pushing' North West To Be On The Cover Of Interview Magazine's Latest Issue
On October 11th, the SKIMS mogul shared the cover and new photos of her eldest child in a post for her 360 million Instagram followers. The Kardashians star captioned it: "NORTH for INTERVIEW MAGAZINE." One fan wrote, beneath the upload: "I read the interview, it seems so sad to see a career pushed on her and she's slowly losing the carefree, responsibility free life of being a child."
Another user added: "This child is on a path to destruction. Let her be a kid." Someone else commented: "What’s her talent other than loving the spotlight?" as one other quipped: "nepotism much?" One concerned commenter also wrote that there is "no reason for kids to be on magazine covers."
This also isn't the first time that Kardashian has come under fire for this, as many fans urged her to allow young North to experience a typical childhood back in June. Kardashian made headlines when she permitted her 11-year-old to celebrate her birthday alongside 22-year-old social media sensation, Kai Cenat at the time.
The child made an appearance in photos posted by well-known Twitch streamer Cenat on his Instagram Story. These images quickly found their way to a Kardashian-centric Reddit page, sparking a flurry of opinions from both admirers and detractors.
According to a post on a Cenat fan page, it seems North was particularly enthusiastic about meeting Cenat for her birthday celebration. The two teamed up for a collaborative painting video. Regardless of whether this encounter was the child's own wish, fans expressed criticism, speculating that Kardashian and her family might be propelling her into the limelight, as noted by The U.S. Sun.
According to the outlet, one user wrote on Reddit after seeing the aforementioned photos: "They're really pushing to make her a child star. She will benefit from her last name regardless. Why not let her be a normal kid and then when she's 18 she can do all of these things? So sad."
Someone else replied: "Agreed. Kim and Kanye [West] have an obligation to protect North and it consistently seems like they're doing the opposite. She has no hope for a normal childhood at this point." One other noted: "[I don't care] if he's famous, an 11 year old girl has no business hanging out with a grown man that isn't related to her. Clips of the performance were shared on social media and received a negative response from viewers who believed that the child lacked preparation for such a prominent role and was only given the opportunity due to her parents’ fame.
